Summary: jocularly torrid romance
Review: Desperate, naked, and wet from her bubble bath soak private investigator Ripley Logan races through the motel balcony window of shoe businessman Joe Pruitt's room. Before the bewildered Joe knows what happens he finds the gorgeous sleuth lying nude in his bed. Joe believes someone upstairs loves him as he feels he just got lucky until Ripley explains that three armed thugs are after her.
Unbelievable at least to Joe's associates and even to himself, he no longer worries about working twenty-four seven days a week as he has Ripley on his brain. His first priority is her safety as opposed to his shoe business operation. As they work on solving her missing person's case, Joe and Ripley fall in love.
PRIVATE INVESTIGATIONS combines slapstick humor with boudoir heat, which on first impressions should prove a disastrous story line. However, terrifically talented Tori Carrington makes the combo work smoothly and seamlessly. Readers obtain a wonderful wacky tale with two delightful lead protagonists. Ripley is a charmer who has ripped asunder Joe's stable world. He is elated with the chance to be her knight in shining armor though he wishes she would change her occupation so they are in less dangerous situations. Review: Private Investigator Ripley Logan's first day on the job is a bust. No one admits to recognizing the grainy photo she carried to Memphis, so Ripley comforts herself with a hot bubble bath at her hotel. But when three gun-wielding men break into her room, quick thinking lands the still naked woman in the bed of a sexy stranger. Joe Pruitt knows something is missing from his life. Business success no longer leaves him fulfilled, but he did not realize what was missing until the unorthodox stranger climbs through his hotel window, bringing sensual excitement to his life both in and out of bed. Joe quickly attaches himself to Ripley, determined to see her case to its end. PRIVATE INVESTIGATIONS displays writing team Tori Carrington's talent at its scintillating best. Comic humor sharply contrast torrid passion resulting in a memorable reading experience. Ripley undermines Joe's stable world, leaving him questioning every element of his life. Joe determinedly hangs with Ripley through dangerously tempting danger, determined to touch her heart as well as her body. The combination of these rich characterizations, a fast paced plot, and outrageous daring make PRIVATE INVESTIGATIONS a keeper. Very highly recommended.
