Rating: Summary: Tried hard to like it Review: but this book is a disapointment. This reader had hoped the premise of a less than perfect heroine, and a hero who finds her beauty in non-traditional ways would be fresh and a satisfying read. Instead, Melissa, the heroine, comes off as niave and standoff-ish instead of sympathetic with strength mixed in. She goes very quickly from hating anyone from the "outside" world to hopping into bed with the hero and hoping that one time will get her pregnant. Which is a disturbing thought, with the heroine already having borderline mental illness or social phobia at best. The Hero is the strongest point of this book, not breaking his word to a friend to protect the heroine and putting up with her behavior far beyond what most men would endure.
Rating: Summary: Harlequin Intrigue goes GOTHIC! Review: I liked this dark and twisty gothic tale set in nowhere Texas. The evil landgrabbing bad guys who are after the dark and injured heroine ....the mysterious and tortured journalist who shows up on her doorstep and she keeps in her dungeon ....all make a moody piece not seen too often in this line. Try her other Gothic Intrigue Blackmailed Bride as well.Romantic Times Review: Isolated in the family castle because of a childhood disfigurement, Melissa Carnes is in danger and doesn't know it. Her uncle calls in a favor to get hard-hitting investigative journalist Tyler Blackwell to protect his niece and find out who is threatening her. UNDER LOCK AND KEY (4) by Sylvie Kurtz has all the elements of a thrilling, classic romantic suspense-a dark castle, an incredible hero, a heroine whose courage is tested, tension and a twist ending.
Rating: Summary: Great Review: This is the 1st Harlequin book I've read. I really liked it, especially the ending!
