Summary: Heartwrenching..SO GOOD!
Review: I LOVED this! What a story! What characters! This was so well written and the h/h, Jo and Damien were unbelievably well developed. I cant tell you how I cried. I felt so TORN while reading this! As much as I adored this, I have one problem..I felt that towards the end, everything was wrapped up too fast and too neatly. The book could have been shortened a bit thru its middle and devoted more time to its conclusion. I also felt it was a bit unbelievable that some of the secondary characters were so willing to commit treason simply to make a happy ending possible. However, this was such a wonderful book that I couldnt help but give it 5 stars regardless of its flaws.....I would definitely recommend it.

Summary: Almost great......
Review: I was hooked but extremely let down at the end. The author had a great story and lost it along the way. She never wrapped things up and left too many loose ends. This woman was dedicated to her family and fought to save their lives and we never hear from them again???? Also, I thought the whole baby thing was out of place and ruined the flow of the relationship.

Summary: Incredibly Heart Felt
Review: I was so impressed by this book. Many people critisize readers of romance and the ganre in general. I was among these people untill I read this book. The heroin is very real and that was something many women want to relate to in a book. I also found myself getting excited and nervous as the plot began to unfold. Several times I had to put it down to stop crying because I had became so involved with the story. This was the first book I had ever read and actually felt the emotions of the characters in it so clearly. It is definately worth reading and without a doubt, the best book I have ever read!

Summary: A very unique storyline with wonderful characters.
Review: It's too bad this story is out of print because it is definitely one of the best stories that Karyn Monk has written. Jo and Damien are realistic characters that are easy to relate to and the story just sucks you right in from the beginning and doesn't let you go until the end.

Monk takes you back in time to the American Revolution, and does such a good job of it that you feel like you are right there with the characters. She vividly portrays two people on opposite sides of the war who fall in love and end up in the position where they will sacrifice their lives and cause to save one another. Just be warned: this is written during the time of The American Revolution and many battle scenes are described in the gruesome reality in which they took place. There are scenes describing the aftermath of battles where many young men lose their lives and these scenes are not glossed over, but very tragic.

This is a story for everyone, even people who do not like romance novels. So if you are able to get a copy do it. You won't be let down.

Summary: A very unique storyline with wonderful characters.
Review: This is an out of print book that is difficult to find and is
expensive even as a used book. It is a 385 pg book set during the american revolution. It is very much about looking into your soul and finding out what you stand for and how much you are willing to sacrifice for that goal. The hero, Damien, is everything you would want in this "lead role". If anything one wonders why he continually puts up with the lies our "lead female" plies him with. However it is easy to see why he would love "Josephine/Celia/Caroline" to distraction. She is the strongest and most likeable heroine I've ever "read". The fact that you see her vulnerability the entire time you are awed by her strength, perserverence and fortitude makes it an incredible experience for the reader. The fact that they wind up together is definitely against the odds and speaks to the creative writing talent of karyn monk. An outstanding book. I have read this author before and am not surprised to again enjoy her gift.
