Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: One bad, one ok Review: I love regencies, so I was very excited to read this. Both books had promising plots. However, both fell short. The Blackmailed Bridegroom could have been great. With the heroine hating the hero because he caused her father's (or was it brother's?) death. Then years later they meet again. He takes her maid's room. It was then that things took a bad turn. I have no objection to her forcing a marriage because of wanting to bring her sister out, but there was almost no arguing. It just happened. Then he took over her life, deciding what she should wear and how she should look. Again, things could have been alright, but they never turned up. At one point he even raped her. Even though he felt terrible, I would have never forgiven him like she did. The Luckless Elopement was better, although still not great or even very good. Victoria is a pretty good heroine. She is fiest and smart. However, she is also mocking. I don't remember this book as well, because I didn't actively dislike it, just thought it was alright. If you want to read a good regency read Georgette Heyer or Barbara Metzeger. Please.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: How about MINUS 3 stars? Review: The hero of "The Blackmailed Bridegroom," stupidly believing his virgin wife has been poisoning him, rapes her with violence. Yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck!!!
The other novel of the pair is simply dull.
