Summary: engaging contemporary romance
Review: In Heyday, everyone is excited by the high school football team's success. However, an accident occurs as star quarterback Steve Strickland, driving to fast to make practice on time, crashes his car and dies. His older sister Claire, who was raising him, blames his coach the town golden boy Kieran "The Saint" McClintock for her sibling's death.

Two years later, Kieran still feels guilty that his philosophy that the team came first led to the speeding vehicle and death, so and while in Richmond attending a conference, he visits Claire to offer a comforting shoulder. His good intentions turn into an evening of passion. Not long afterward the grieving and guilt feeling Claire learns she is pregnant. Kieran persuades her to marry him so their child will have a name, but actually wants more. How will he convince his wife who holds him responsible for Steve's death that he loves her?

This is an engaging contemporary romance starring two wonderful protagonists who are connected more by a tragedy than by their love or her pregnancy. Though two years have passed and Claire has somewhat moved on, readers will wonder how she could even deal with the man she holds accountable for her beloved brother's death. Still Kieran is a terrific lead character who wonders if his obsession to win at football lead to the loss of a life driven to meet that objective while Claire is a fine counterpart reminding him of his overdrive. Fans will enjoy this angst-laden tale of love seemingly sacked by the misfortune that changed their lives.
