Rating: Summary: I am completely addicted to Woodiwiss ! Review: "Ashes In The Wind" is my favorite. I am surprised there hasn't been a movie made yet! I love the character she can put into her books. My husband also thought I was crazy to enjoy a romance novel. Then he heard me laughing as I read and his curiosity got the best of him. I know he has read this book over three times and all of her others books plus, he wanted them all in hard cover so, who was crazy? My friends and daughters are also Woodiwiss addicted! With all of the history included, you could be reading about your ancestors.
Rating: Summary: WOW is all i can say. Review: From the moment you start reading you will not want to put this book down. Kathleen is a master and this is one of my favorite novels by her. I feel so much emotion for both Alaina and Cole. Laugh at the antics of "Al" and want to shout at Cole for not seeing the truth before his eyes. The scenery, characters and story line are so vividly described you will want to go to sleep at night just to dream...
Rating: Summary: Unforgettable! Review: I read this 25 years ago when I was in high school- and it has stood the test of time! It is great thru and thru. 90% of KW's books have been great but somewhat perdictable. There is a great storyline, enough romance, and plenty drama and suspense to keep the reader guessing. I hated putting it down. I really cared for the characters. The setting is during the Civil War. Alaina MacGaren has been able to survive due to her disguises as a young rebel orphaned boy, who is taken in by a dashing Yankee surgeon named Cole Latimer. She finds refugee at her aunt and uncle's home while she works at the hospital in disquise to help pay for her living expense. Times get interesting! Alaina's cousin, who she is living with, works at trapping Cole (I wanted to scratch her eyes out for Cole) into marriage, while all along Cole is fasinated with his little "ragged" friend- not realizing that he is a fascinating and desirable young woman. Things get wild and the reader will never guess how they turn out. There are truly some funny scenes that I found myself laughing at and close to tears wanting to holler "Don't do it!" at other times. I really got into the story. I must be into Civil War books right now- but this was like none other. I rate this one up there with Heather Grahams' One Wore Blue, One Wore Gray, And One Went West series about the Camerons. It was great!
Rating: Summary: The book that started my romance with romance Review: If I could only take one book from all of my romance books to that desert island, it would be this one. I have been reading romance novels for 20 years but this one is still my favorite and I read it every couple of years, just to enjoy it again.
Rating: Summary: Ashes in the wind-again and again! Review: Kathleen E Woodiwiss is the MASTER of romance. I started reading her 20 years ago. Ashes in the Wind is a book that you can read over and over again and still read again! People ask me why I read this book over and over. My answer-Why do you watch a favorite movie over again. When you read Ashes, you don't want it to end. Just like Woodiwiss' other books. If you want a romantic escape, this is your book. You are hooked before the first chapter is over...Then you can't put it down! I wish I could give it 100 stars.
Rating: Summary: A True Classic Review: The story flow beautifully on the beginning chapters. then, it started to get monotoneus in the middle till the end, and really predictable. It is as if the readers are guide to tell the story not to view it. Worse again, the topics are 'jumpy',from one plot to the other. Overall, it is not so bad, however it is not the best from other of her novels. Still romantic, sweet telling, but not enough description on the man's feeling. Woodiwiss makes the hero sound so childish and dull. I like her "Elusive Flame" much much better.
Rating: Summary: Still one of the best Civil War romances ever Review: This is a fabulous romance novel, with fascinating characters, set against the tragedy of the Civil War. Many women are known to have disguised themselves as men to fight - Alaina disguises herself for survival and meets the love of her life. How nice to read a Civil War novel in which real research was done by someone who knows the period. I keep hoping for a sequel - whatever happens to Alaina's brother Jason after the war?
Rating: Summary: WOW is all i can say. Review: This is my third Woodiwiss book and let me tell you the lady does not disapoint. The ones that i have read have been entertaining from begining to end. I have become a total Woodiwiss fan after enjoying such great stories that leaving me going awwwww.
Rating: Summary: She's done it again... Review: Woodiwiss never ceases to amaze me. This is one ofher best! I love the Civil War era, making this book eve better. Alaina is so strong and stubborn, as is Cole, it was fun seeing how "AL" and Cole got along, 2gether. MUST READ!!If you like Woodiwiss, definitely read Shanna and the Flame and the Flower!
