Summary: A Book You Won't Want to Put Down
Review: After reading The Bride Finder, I thought I'd never find another book comparable. It turns out that I enjoyed The Night Drifter even more! Susan Carroll combines the paranormal with romance to form a heart-warming story you'll read well into the night. I couldn't put it down!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Real Cliffhanger Ending
Review: Having read "The Bride Finder" I was eager to continue with the story on the children from Anatole and Madeline. It takes place after the battle of Waterloo in which Lancelot the eldest twin son and heir has returned from the war and while his parents are on a grand tour has been left in charge. Lance, having been wounded by an affair of the heart, has turned rather cynical and would rather not have these responsibilities, but as the heir apparent, is forced into it. One more disappointment he would rather not have to divulge to the `dread Lord' his father is the loss of the St. Leger Bride Sword - a priceless family heirloom that gets passed on to the brides found for St. Leger men by the `Bride Finder'.

Most of the St. Leger descendants usually have some kind of supernatural power, Lance's is the power to separate his soul from his mortal body and night drift. Thinking this a great way to search for the stolen sword he happens upon the very young widow Rosalind, who believes him to be Sir Lancelot de Luc of King Arthur's Round Table. Rather than let her know the truth he plays along with her misconception and tells her he is looking for a missing sword - well that was part of the truth.

As it turns out, Rosalind while visiting the Effie Fitzleger, granddaughter of the original `Bride Finder' is astounded when Lance shows up with his brother Val and Effie is hit with the `tingly' feeling that Rosalind is meant to be the bride for all eternity of Lance St. Leger. Rosalind does not recognize Lance as her nightly apparition and wants no part of this reputed St. Leger rakehell. In order to woo the naïve widow, Lance has to continue as Sir Lancelot at night in order to convince her to give Lance St. Leger a chance to redeem himself during the day.

This was a continuation of a wonderful storyline that Carroll has crafted using the unforgettable family created with her stunning `Bride Finder'. She has given us a new plot with interesting characterizations and a real cliffhanger ending to show us once again that true love can heal all!

Summary: could have done better
Review: i thought that this book would be good and would be better than the bride finder but it was not it did dissapoint me on a number of levels, firstly i think that it shold have been funnier considering Rosalind's personality earlier described as being quirky but instead sounded kind of immature. Also the reasons why Lance was cynical were really not explained in a believable way and so i was left feeling a little let down.

Summary: A great story, with wonderful characters!
Review: It's hard to imagine that Susan Carroll could top the Bride Finder but she did with her latest book, The Night Drifter. I loved this book! Rich in story and characterization we once again get to follow the strange and haunting world of the St. Leger family. The best part of this book was observing how the characters were changed by true love. I can only hope that Ms. Carroll will continue the St. Leger saga so that we can once again be pulled into the world of this unique family.l

Summary: The ultimate fantasy-romance!
Review: Night Drifter offers romance in its purest, most magnificent form. This is a love story reminiscent of the fantasies I used to read a very young girl, the type that made me dream, sigh with longing...and dream some more.

Susan Carroll's storytelling skill and deep emotional tone in this book even surpassed her Bride Finder, which I found to be a stunning novel.

Her characters Rosalind and Lancelot will break your heart and, at the same time, have you chuckling through your tears at their antics. But make no mistake, when suspense builds, when grief besets them, the reader is so deeply entrenched she is living every moment, feeling every tear and spate of fear and rage.

Pure romance, pure heroism, is the very consistent theme throughout this wonderful novel. I highly recommend it. If you loved Bride Finder, you won't be able to put this one down. I bow to Susan's incredible talent and writing skill. And I can't wait for her next book. -Lee Emory

Summary: A good read
Review: Susan Carroll does it again with "The Night Drifter", I didn't think that she could top "The Bride Finder" but this book was just as good if not better. I fell in love with Rosalind and Lance, as they fell in love with eachother. I laughed while reading, something a rarely do when reading, and cried, something I had never done when reading a book. The perfect love story. I can't wait to read "Midnight Bride", Val's story coming in April 2001. I know that it will be a worthwhile read as well as a compeling love story, with a plot which is something you rarely have when reading romance. Definalty a good read, I HIGHLY recomend it to anyone. Even if you don't like romance.

Summary: a welcome addition to the Bride Finder series
Review: The Bride Finder left me stunned, it was so good. The second in the series, The Night Drifter, isn't quite as good (hence 4 instead of 5 stars, though 4 & 1/2 would be more accurate) but is still far above most books in the genre and well worth the reading.

Lance is a great hero, even though I never understood why his particular gift is supposed to be so amazing amongst so many amazing gifts. Other reviewers have expressed their disappointment in Rosalind; I can barely remember her, which indicates to me that wasn't particularly memorable. When we first meet her, she seems like a delightful heroine, but later her continued infatuation with a ghost despite the presence of a living, breathing hero does get a little annoying.

Propero is a welcome secondary character, as always, but Ellie is a poor Bride Finder compared to the wonderful one in the first book. Unfortunately, she's young enough to stick around for a while. I miss the old man.

Defintely read this one, even though opinions are divided on how it comes to The Bride Finder. Susan Carroll is simply a fabulous author.

Summary: My all time favorite, along with The Bride Finder !
Review: The Bride Finder sold me on romance novels and then i couldn't wait to read The Night Drifter. If you love romance and mystery mixed with paranormal and ghostly heros. You will love this book. I hope Susan Carroll comes out with a third. I'll be the first to purchase it. Susan Carroll is my favorite romance author.

Summary: Another great story about the St. Leger family
Review: THE NIGHT DRIFTER is another winner from Susan Carroll. I hoped it would be, and I wasn't disapointed.

Lance is a true hero, willing to lay down his life for Rosalind his one true love. It was lovely to see Anatole and Madeleine again, even if it was for a short time at the end of the book.

I do hope they are in more of Val's story (VALENTINE'S BRIDE).

Thank you Ssusan for a wonderful, magical story. I'm looking forward to Val's story. Winter 2001 is to long to wait for it.
