Rating: Summary: Satisfied Spiritwarrior-WolfVamp Review: Amongst Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and fiction I love WereWolf & Vampire Novels. A nice weaving af many characters from her previous novels and a great weaving in of many fantasy scenes, powers, and themes in a high adventure romance novel. I really like the banter , affection and humorous interactions and dialogue amongst Kenyons characters! Can make you give a second look at your friends, neighbors, and casual aquaintances less there be another hidden identitiy to them yet to be discovered?? A good, fun, quick read and fantasy escape. Leaves me wanting to learn more about her other characters and to read their stories in more depth from her other novels. I can hardly wait as i look forward to reading more of her Novels. :-) Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: You won't be able to put it down! Review: Bride McTierney lost a rat-of-a-fiance and had just about decided to give up on men, when Vane Kattalakis walks into her store. She loses herself in the moment and discovers that a mere moment isn't enough. Vane doesn't just walk away. As a matter of fact, he's always underfoot...and truth be told, Bride could get used to it. But can she get used to the fact that the man of her dreams is part wolf...a wolf whose father and family is hunting him?
Kenyon never disappoints, and Vane and Bride story is no exception. Once you start, you won't be able to put it down.
Rating: Summary: Very good Review: Get out your notebook and pen because you'll need it to keep track of all of the people and all of the various lineages. I finally gave up and just decided to enjoy the character Vane. He was so well written, a little clueless as to dating but he so clearly loves the heroine and his brother.Actually I enjoyed this more than any of the other Dark Hunter books except for the first one. So will you.
Rating: Summary: Night Play Review: I found Kenyon's books becoming repetitive. This one was a change--mostly because it contained werewolves. I liked the beginning. Kenyon grabs the readers attention by showing the were brothers hanging from trees, left for dead. She introduces the female character by receiving a fed-ex from her now ex, dumping her. Very witty, very attention getting.
My only fault is that she is alway elborating on how over weight Bride is and how self-conscience she is about it, yet during the first love scene, she's watching her body in the mirror. Over weight women that have a problem with their bodies, would not be over eager to stare at them naked in a mirror.
Vane is the man almost every woman dreams of. I love this sexy character. The parts where he puts Bride's ex in his place are priceless!
Rating: Summary: Loved the storty, but weight issue was distracting. Review: I have read all of her books and have loved them. I found the constant discussion of Bride's weight and body image issues (she is a size 18) a bit distracting. I also found it hard to picture Vane with her (maybe it's the pessimist in me, sorry...).
I would have been happier to have it said that she was overweight, not the perfect body type (who is??) and let it go with that.
Regardless, I did enjoy it and look forward to her next.
Rating: Summary: samantha mccorkle Lancaster South Carolina Review: Man did I love this book. To me it was one of the best kenyon books yet, and thats saying alot since I love her books. I am a true dark hunter fan And I was wondering if I would like a book about the Werehunters, but man I fell in love with Van from the get go."Who wouldnb't" He is every thing a women wants in a man. No wonder Bride was drooling on the floor, when he showered her with attention, I would be.
I would like to thank kenyon for her work of art. She truelly has a wonderful talent.
Bride and Van Touched my heart. And by the end of the book, I felt like I was apart of there story.
And it was nice seeing a different side of ash: "COOL".
I know that by the time ASH get his on book which incase any of you didn't know; it is a 2 book series. Teh first book is about his past and the second book is about the here and now. I can't wait (2007) is a long time. But I always wonder who is Ash's future herion. HE is very close to Amanda and Keinya's Baby which you will notice in this book. The baby also has some very special talents. Is he close to her because he just loves children or does this child hold a special place in his heart for the future. He talk about all the special thing she will do in her life and a how wonderful she is and anytime she crys and he is around he shoots aff to comfort her.
Anyways that is way off the point of this book.
This is a great book and a keeper
spend 7 bucks on it; heck spend 15 bucks. It's worth the money.
Rating: Summary: Katagaria Slayer with a heart Review: This is Vane's and Bride's story and it is the first full length novel about a Were-Hunter in Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series. Vane Kattalakis is reputed to be one of the most vicious and powerful Katagaria Slayers. So far this has helped him to keep his sister and brother safe, but now his sister has died in a Daimon attack and he and his brother were marked for death by their father, the head of their pack. Although Vane can save the two of them, his brother Fang was hurt so badly that he has fallen into a coma and is now hidden at Sanctuary.
Bride McTierney has just been dumped by her boyfriend of five years and is having a really bad time, when Vane walks into her store. Never has she seen such a gorgeously scrumptious male and she is completely bedazzled when he seems equally attracted to her, though her ex-boyfriend always complained that she weighted too much. But Vane thinks she is perfect and they spend a hot night together after which Vane leaves because his father has sent a killing squad after him and he doesn't want to endanger her.
But then something unexpected happens: although Bride is human a mating mark appears on both Vane's and her hand which means that if Vane cannot convince Bride within three weeks that they belong together he will spend the rest of her lifetime impotent while she isn't affected at all. And she doesn't even know yet, that he is a Were-Hunter wolf...
With Vane Kattalakis Kenyon has created another complex hero with a tortured past, rejected by both his parents and always ready to kill anybody who threatens him or his family. He was only able to survive by hiding the full extent of his magical powers and by hiding his true nature. In Bride he finds a woman who is sweet and vulnerable but also sexy and loving; with her he can indulge the gentle side of his nature.
The story is also populated with fascinating secondary characters; there are all the Peltier brothers and the only girl of the Bear clan, Aimée Peltier who looks after Fang, as well as all the other residents of Sanctuary. The reader also gets to meet Vane's younger brother who was left for dead by their mother and finds out, why their parents hate each other so much. Then there are Nick, Cajun bad boy and Kyrian's squire and Simi, Asheron's childlike and always hungry demon.
A really great paranormal romance which you won't be able to put down.
Rating: Summary: Love Sherrilyn!!! Review: This is yet another excellent book by Sherrilyn Kenyon!! It is considered part of the "Darkhunter" series, although Vane is a were-hunter not a DH. Still many of the chararacters from previous books make a cameo appearance. Also in this book we learn a bit more about the infamous "Sanctuary" and the Peltier family that runs it. You don't have to read this series in order, Sherrilyn does a great job of filling in any needed information. If you do read this one first you will scramble to find the previous ones, that are that good. It all starts with Fantasy Lover.) One of my personal favorite quirks of SK's writing is that her heroine's are not "cookie cutter" perfect. Each are as unique, as their story. Her character's have to battle both inner demons and outer daimons before finding their way. She also has the best website available when you do develop the "DH Addiction". www.dark-hunter.com
Rating: Summary: Give this book a chance. Review: What a wonderful story. Forget the series, forget the author. I know nothing more about Sherrylin Kenyon or the Dark Hunter novels other than this book. And it's a darn good good stroke of luck too, considering some of the heavy criticisms and outlandish comments being being made about this book.
I went ahead and purchased it half expecting it to be the silly waste of time that some people have pegged this to be. Even I can admit that the premise of a wolf having three weeks to convince a human woman to be his mate or be 'neutered' for the rest of his life is a little ridiculous, albeit curiously interesting. Plus the fact that many reviewers seem to be placing so much unwarranted emphasis on the fact that the main heroine/ love interest happens to be a bonafide plus sized woman has detracted from what this story really is. This is a love story. And a very sweet, cleverly written one at that.
Vane Kattalakis is quite literally a rare breed. Aside from being an absolutely gorgeous looking, rich and kind hearted man there is much more to him than just that. The details are a bit lengthy if I get into them all but essentially there are two types of 'were'beings. The Arcadians are born human and stay human until they reach puberty, at which time they become and have the option of becoming an anaimal. Some are Bears, Wolves, Hawks, etc. Basicly your normal werewolf scenario. Katagarians on the other hand are the exact opposite. They are born as animals and become human once they reach puberty. The two species hate eachother because they both believe that their kind is superior to the other.
In Vane's case, he is a Katagarian Wolf who finds himself inexplicably drawn to a human woman for the first time in his life. Bride is a kindhearted shop owner who is greiving over the fact that her boyfriend of five years has been using her all along and has just left her. Vane on the other hand is grieving over the recent death of his beloved sister and the comatose state of his brother. The two are heavily attracted to eachother and have a one night stand right in the backroom of her own store! Afterwards they reluctantly part ways and probably would have never met again if not for the strange greek markings that appear on both their hands. Vane recognizes the mark as the mating mark. In his species, once you have slept with the woman that fate has intended to be your mate, you must either consumate the mating and be bound as mates forever or be rejected by your mate and spend the rest of your life as a eunich. There are many more details involved that rationalize this whole idea that are impeccably explained almost to the point of normalcy.
Although both Bride and Vane share an emotional connection that neither of them can deny, there are many complications.
Bride isn't sure if she can trust a man after what her ex-boyfriend did to her and she has self esteem issues because she isn't model-thin and doesn't understand what Vane sees in her.
Vane doesn't know how to even tell Bride what he really is, let alone get her to accept him and love him for who he is. Plus he doesn't want to burden her normla life with all the magic and unconventional aspects of his. It also doesn't help that several other wolves, including his parents, have set out to kill him( even wolves have dysfunctional families ).
Will Vane and Bride be able to love and accept eachother for who and what they are?
This is more of a romance fantasy with a bit of action mixed in rather than something worthy of having "A Dark Hunter Novel" come right after the title. Although that is reflective of the series and not the plot itself, that happened to be an assumption of mine, being the first time reader that I am.
The story is sweet, witty, and lighthearted at times. The book has it's share of comical moments but there is nothing that I would consider to be immature or in bad taste or silly. As for the reviewer that found the scene where Vane shows up on a motorcycle and puts Brides jerk of an ex boyfriend in his place to be very over the top... what exactly were you expecting from a novel where one of the main charactors is a wolf and about 90% of all the charactors are either some type of animal, Dark hunter, demon, or other nonhuman species? I thought that scene was one of the best of the whole novel and was very humorously done and in perfect relevance with the rest of the plot. If you were expecting something different then I guess this book just wasn't for you. And as for those reviewers lamenting about Brides full figure being a distraction or of some big relevance to the story, you are only deluding yourselves to believe that because you must not be able to accept the idea of a plus sized woman being sexy and appealing enough to be the main charactor and love interest in a romance novel, which is sad. Brides weight is only a very minor issue that is brought up to reflect the part of Brides personality that WOULD feel insecure about herself. Even a thin woman would feel this way when with someone as physically immaculate as Vane. If anything, her weight issues and body image are a benefit to her charactor and the story because they show Bride as being all the more human, thus in contrast to the perfect, shapeshifting, immortal Vane.
This was a wonderfully entertaining read and I recommend it to anyone looking for a nice love story that meets all criteria for a great romance without all the normal settings and cliched charactors. Even after reading all the negative reviews I still gave this book a try, and you should too.
Rating: Summary: One of Kenyon's worst Review: You know how you finish a short story and think "This would have been better as a novel."? In this case, this would have been better as a short story. It just kept dragging on and on. In addition, Kenyon has taken a pre-established alpha-dog (pardon the pun) character and turned him into a whishy-washy wimp. I didn't even like him in this book when his appearances in previous books practically had me panting. This was the deciding factor for me that no Kenyon book was worth running out to buy the day it comes out. I wait on the library.
On a side note, Simi is the most annoying literary character ever created. She is on par with JarJar Binks.
