Rating: Summary: A good read, again. Review: "Beautiful Dreamer" is a novel of quests and discoveries. As the hero and heroine search for the solutions to the drought-induced dilemma, they find themselves discovering emotions that had been long dead and buried deep. The result is well worth the journey to discovery. Elizabeth Lowell is well known for her versatility in writing. She can whip out a spine-tingling mysterious suspense novel, and then turn around and amaze her readers with a far-out science fiction epic. But it is her sensual and passionate romantic tales that have endeared her to so many fans. With "Beautiful Dreamer," Lowell counts on her fans to continue their loyalty when they discover this novel was actually released in 1985 under the name of "Valley of The Sun." Lowell has expanded the story to flesh out the plot line and add details, and for those who have read the previous version it will be interesting to discover those additions. For those who haven't read the former edition, "Beautiful Dreamer" will prove to be an intriguing novel.
Rating: Summary: Western dreams Review: (...) I like western romance novels, and nothing comes close to Beautiful Dreamer. The plot line is refreshingly original, the characters are believable and have won a place in my heart. Elizabeth Lowell paints the west so vividly. I've read several other of Lowell's books, and this is undoubtably my favorite. I really wish there were more books like this. Thanks!
Rating: Summary: A Beautiful Story Review: Hope has dreams for her ranch...big dreams. But they can never come true without a reliable source of water. Rio is a man who roams wherever the wind carries him, he can find Hope water and share her dream for a while, but then he'll move on. He always moves on. A drifter and a woman bound to the land find not only water under the hot desert sun...but love. Do they have a chance of making it work?Elizabeth Lowell takes you into the heart of the desert, paints it with words, as she tells a lush story of love between a dreamer and a man who thinks he's forgotten how to dream.
Rating: Summary: Amazing! Review: I absolutely loved this book. It was my first Elizabeth Lowell book, but it definitely won't be my last. Hope is the strong heroine fighting for her dream, and Rio is the mysterious and sexy as hell hero who helps her achieve it. You can tell they're attracted to each other the first time they meet, but neither of them wants to accept it because Hope can never leave the Valley of the Sun and Rio can't stay there. My only problem with this book was all that "brother to the wind" crap with Rio. What sane person lets the freakin' WIND dictate their life? "I'm sorry, Hope...I love you, but I have to leave now because the WIND is blowing, and it sounds like it's saying my name...you should have known you'd never be able to replace the WIND in my life...see ya..." That part kind of had me wishing Hope would walk out on his sorry behind in the end, but of course, the romance got the best of me. Anyway, if you're looking for a good love story, this one is a must read.
Rating: Summary: Sweet - but predictable Review: I chose this book because it had Elizabeth Lowell's name on it, and ordered it before there were any reviews. I expected the usual gripping suspense, twisting plots, and exciting romance. I didn't know it was an expanded version of a release from some 16 years ago. Well, there wasn't the gripping suspense, the plot had no unexpected twists, and you knew from the start that eventually Hope's beloved Valley of the Sun would be saved, and the couple would live happily ever after. What held me enthralled and gave this book the 4 stars it deserved was Lowell's ability to strongly develop her characters. You couldn't help but get involved in Hope's dream - you felt the physical exhaustion as she struggled to do the work what had to be done to bring water to her cattle. You saw the world through Rio's heart and soul as he was determined to help her find the water to save the ranch, as he struggled not let a romance develop between them as he would have to move on and didn't want to hurt her. You felt Rio's pain that no white woman would ever want to have a child his mixed breed bloodline. You couldn't help but get caught up in the passion of the love between Hope and Rio. It was enough. Lowell's creative magic made for a very enjoyable evening's entertainment.
Rating: Summary: langhorne Review: I enjoyed this book very much. Still new to romance novels I have trouble witht he abrupt endings. I want more than happily ever after. I have been married for 16 years and the trouble did not start until we were married 2 years, that is when the marriage was challenged. I love the stories of people coming together, fighting their emotions, reasoning with themselves, and finally giving in to what works for them. In Beautiful Dreamer they are well matched and beautifully painted against the backdrop of Nevada. I could see it, I could feel it, I could almost smell it. My only regret is we will never know if it lasted. After all...Brother -of-the-Wind...
Rating: Summary: Can Rio find water and love? Review: Not a bad story. This is the story of Hope Gardner who lives in the Valley of the Sun. This is her heritage and the land she loves more than anything else in life. She has modeled to make money to drill for a new well. But no one thinks she can find water on her land. Especially the lecherous neighbor who has been after her for years. Along comes Rio who is part Native American and who is no longer a dreamer but he can find water if it exists. But can he do it without loosing his heart to Hope and finding he has dreams after all. You spend a lot of time listening to the philosophy of the Native Americans and looking into the sole of the main characters but it is a heartfelt romance.
Rating: Summary: Incredibly Romantic Review: The hero (Rio) in this book is one of my favorites. Although he struggles with his past and his own pain, he his strong, sexy and givng. What I like about this book is that Rio and Hope don't waste thier time fighting all of the time. You can feel thier care and feelings for one another. Hope is strong and independant without being abrasive. The love scenes in this book are sensual without being filthy. I HIGHLY recommend this book!!!! You won't be sorry!!!!
Rating: Summary: Beyond Beautiful Review: This has topped all books I have read as the best ever. The struggle the characters had to realize their dreams was gut-wrenching, any weaker person would have broken. Some of the reviewers couldn't understand why Rio was like he was, but I think the reasons for his inner workings was clearly explained. Like one of the other characters he befriended said Rio's life would have broke a weaker man. He not only had stronger beliefs than anyone ever, but he was a friend to so many in their time of need. The story couldn't have unfolded any other way in order for Hope to learn the far reaches of the kindness and unselfishness of the man Rio was.
Yes there should have been a sequel to show us more of what went into realizing the fruit of the dream of Hope for the Valley of the Sun.
Rating: Summary: A well-crafted story Review: This was a well-crafted story about a man with a gift for finding water and a woman who believes in him and his gift. A feel-good story that will keep you reading until the last page!
