Rating: Summary: Excellent Book! Review: "I loved the book!! The day I got it in the mail I started reading it, and I couldnt put it down. I tried so that I could have something to read later on. But I read it all in one day! I loved it and I cant wait for the sequel. I just hope that Jacy and Rich stay together, but thats just me." I would recommend this book for all to read.
Rating: Summary: Could not put it down! Review: I am normally not an avid reader unless a book grabs me by the face and tells me to hold on within the first few paragraphs. I could not put this book down! Jacilyn Thomas (Jacy for short) is such a well developed character that any young woman can identify with her. The types of men she encounters and chooses to, or not to, deal with....the drama she has to endure... Just too realistic for words. The only thing I didn't like was the "to be continued ending" and I guess that was just because I didn't want it to end.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining... Review: I found myself rooting for the "thug" and not the girl who tries to play him. THis is a different type of urban fiction, it shows us the unseen side of the thug, that shows us that they are real people too.
Rating: Summary: Can't wait til the sequel Review: It's rare to find a book that holds your interest in one sitting. It took me almost a month to finish the last book I read (won't mention the name :). But from the moment I received Thugs are for Fun in the mail I opened it, and couldn't stop turning the pages. A very entertaining book, I cannot WAIT to see what happens to Jacy in the sequel!!
Rating: Summary: Fun or a set-up for drama? Review: Jacilyn "Jacy" Thomas is a young computer analyst in a job she hates; yet she's afraid to step out on faith and start her own business. Instead, she puts up with the day-to-day injustices that befall her at the hands of her boss. In her personal life, she's a little tired of the dating games in her interactions with men after being stuck with too many dead-beat men, in positions that reek of inevitable failure. When she meets Rich, she's ready for another uneventful relationship with yet another thug and has convinced herself it's all in fun. Rich is a thug through and through and once he sees Jacy isn't fooled by his "construction worker" job description, he opens himself up giving a view of the good, the bad, and the ugly. When he meets Jacy, he sees something different in her than in previous women he's dated, disrespected and dogged. Unfortunately, he has a bad temper, wants Jacy to tone things down a bit, and when she doesn't, he lets things get out of hand and what results lands him in a position away from Jacy. While she enjoys being his woman and the care (and money) he affords her, she's still not so sure about things and finds herself caught up in the men drama again while seeking help to start her business. Her incidents with several men get back to Rich and in a moment of weakness, he does something he regrets that changes Jacy's thoughts about their relationship. As she tries to move on with her life, Rich is still there expressing his love for her and his desire to marry her, yet will he ever climb the wall Jacy has constructed or meet the expectations she's set? And will Jacy get out of her rut both professionally and romantically and land on course with her dreams? THUGS ARE FOR FUN is a light read portraying relationships that tend to be one-sided, just for fun. Jacy experienced numerous incidents in which her standards weren't met; yet she settled allowing herself to be put in a position to be let down. I enjoyed how the author weaved in Jacy's desire to take control of her life professionally and follow her dreams. In addition, the characters were developed well and I wanted to know about them, what made them who they were. On the flip side, Jacy's many altercations with men made me cringe and the extent one would go, just for fun; especially considering that most people eventually want more than to have fun. The ending, while it was totally unexpected, left me wanting more and feeling set up for a sequel. Reviewed by Tee C. Royal of The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers
Rating: Summary: Filled with street slang, drama, and pathos Review: Thugs Are For Fun is the novel of a young black woman, who, despite her intelligence, inner strength, and warm personality, gets drawn into one bad relationship after another with "thugs" - disrespectful men who cannot be trusted at best and at worst are one step away from life behind bars. She tells herself that "thugs are only good for a little fun", but cannot stop dating them. Her latest involvement with a man leads to a situation where he wants things more permanent and she doesn't, which can only put another twist on the endless conflicts of her romantic life. "Thugs Are For Fun" is filled with street slang, drama, and pathos, as it tells the ups and downs of life and the private heavens and hells of our own making.
