Rating: Summary: FOOLS POINT #3 - GREAT Review: Ah, I finally got to read Alex Coughlin's story! He is the 3 character to be brought into prominence in Fools Point,MD, now being referred to by the locals as "Mystery Junction" The opening sure got your interest jumping and I couldn't put the darn book down until I found out who the villian was. What a surprise! Thoroughly enjoyed Alex and Nicki's sensual attraction - if only these gals would stop their bed hopping I could like them better. Our poor authors have lost their sense of flirting to bring about a marriage and have resorted to [everyone's doing it]theme. This story was action packed with enough twists and turns not to become boring. I am still waiting to find out what happens to Matt. And What is going on with Dr. Leslie Martin and the Chief of Police Hepplewhite? Will that bully Thad Osher get a chance to straighten out? Will Nicki's brothers, Brent and Gavin, get stories of their own? And What about Holly? I highly recommend this series "Fools Point" with an Excellent -M.

Rating: Summary: The Silent Witness Review: Dani Sinclair takes readers on a fast and furious ride in "The Silent Witness," the third book in her Fools Point series. When Nicki Michaels' friend witnessed a murder but refused to come forward and tell the police what she saw, Nicki reluctantly went in her place. Too bad the man she implicated was Alex Coughlin. She and Alex had a brief affair before he left town years ago, and now the former bad boy was back in Fools Point, finding trouble all over again. Nicki didn't believe Alex could be the killer. And when a murderer whose specialty is in making bombs suddenly targets Nicki, Alex may be the only man she can trust.Sinclair's tale is blessedly free of most of those "hooks" the editors (and no one else) seem so fond of. No kids of any kind, no weddings, no amnesia. That's reason enough to like it. The book will also appeal to those who like their romantic suspense novels to be more of a thriller. Sinclair launches straight into the action and never lets up. Constant action and characters who are in danger and always on the move will leave many readers breathless. At the same time, the relentless pace sacrifices a lot. The story is frequently confusing. Sinclair often introduces information with a familiarity that suggests this is something we should already know. There's no time to absorb any of it because we're already moving on to something new. While I had a pretty good overall idea what the mystery involved by the end, I was still fuzzy on many details, and really didn't care enough to go back and try and figure it out. I don't think the mystery was that complicated, yet the way the author tells it makes it seem far too complex and hard to understand. The frenetic pace also makes it hard to form any attachment to the lead characters. The romance seems forced, often popping up out of nowhere and then dropping out of sight for extended periods. There are long stretches in the second half when any trace of romance, or even any sense that Nicki and Alex are still working together, disappear, as the scene begins to get crowded with secondary characters. I would almost say this is a book mainstream thriller readers would like better than romance readers. Another concern: I still haven't gotten around to reading book two, "My Baby, My Love" (the hook-heavy cover--pregnant woman is struck with amnesia and man pretends to be her mate!--gave me every reason not to), yet the events of that book are discussed so much I feel like I know half of what happened in it, plus who the villain is. Anyone with any desire to read it might want to hit that one first. There is much to admire in the style Sinclair has chosen, a welcome change of pace from books that overdose on the romantic hand wringing and don't give enough meat in the mystery. Sinclair packs a lot of mystery in her book and her voice is strong and distinctive, but the story is almost too fast-paced. Combining the style with a little more clarity will make her a writer to reckon with. I would recommend the first Fools Point, "For His Daughter" instead.

Rating: Summary: The Silent Witness a WINNER Review: I really enjoyed this book. The romance between Alex and Nickie were great, and the suspense had you sitting on the edge of your seat. The who done it kept changing throughout the book. This is a very good romance and mystery book. My first book by Dani Sinclair but not my last. She is good enough to write regular novels.
