Summary: A Satisfying Conclusion to a Good Miniseries
Review: After a weaker second installment, the "Captive Hearts" miniseries bounces back in its third and final installment, "The Safe Hostage." In the previous books (which take place simultaneously with this one), we saw Carrie Lamb acting very strangely following a hostage situation. Now we get to find out why, and the answer proves to be very satisfying. Ms. Miles keeps her leads on the run, while gradually peeling back the secrets that surround them. Carrie and Ryan are two strong, admirable people, showing some remarkable ingenuity at times, and their gradual transformation from distrust to trust was very well done. I truly appreciated how well all the stories were integrated, with Carrie's appearances in the other two books making perfect sense with how they play into her own tale. That's not to say it's necessary to read the other books first; this one simply complements them so well. A story brimming over with action and heart-pounding romance, "The Safe Hostage" is not to be missed.
