Rating: Summary: A Valentine's Day Romance Review: Hi! I'm so glad I can celebrate this special holiday with my readers and would like to give you a hint as to how this romance is more than a marriage of convenience love story. Cody Granger asked Lauren MacMillan to the prom when they were in high school after Cody broke-up with his high school sweetheart. But Lauren saw them kissing one day and decided she wouldn't let Cody or any boy break her heart ever again. They meet again as adults when Cody moves back to his hometown as a widower, father and respected doctor. To protect his daughter from a possible custody fight, Cody asks Lauren to marry him. But this convenient marriage becomes inconvenient when Cody and Lauren fall irrevocably in love and have to learn to trust each other, as well as heal the past. One of the more touching moments is when Cody recreates a prom night for the two of them and begins to acknowledge how much he needs Lauren in his life for himself, not just as a mother for his daughter.HEARTLAND CRITIQUES gives this book five gold stars. ROMANTIC TIMES says: "Karen Rose Smith has written a tender and thoughtful story of two people, each wrestling with growing desires, past hurts and misconceptions while trying to build a loving home for an adorable little girl, and proving that saying "I do" is only the beginning...in more ways than one." Readers can watch for my new series from Silhouette Romance beginning in March 2001 with TALL, DARK & TRUE, SR #1506.
Rating: Summary: A lot of story in a little book Review: I've only just 'discoverd' Ms. Smith's books, with BE MY BRIDE? the first one I've read. I was amazed at the amount of emotion and meaty story the author packed into the slim volume. I especially loved the characterization of Cody and Lauren. Both emerged as people I would really like to know in real life. By the time I finished the book, Ms. Smith became my newest auto-buy author and I picked up most of her backlist at my local UsedBookStor. At the moment, I'm currently reading her latest release, TALL, DARK AND TRUE. Suffice it to say, it has not disappointed yet. If you haven't read any of Ms. Smith's books, I'd advise you to start with BE MY BRIDE? I don't think you'll be disappointed.
