Summary: Classic
Review: I agree that this is an instant classic. It is a must read. It had me crying, mad, happy, and on edge. All of the characters were well developed, and I enjoyed reading about all of them. Definitely one to recommend to others.

Summary: As a native of San Francisco, and a devotee of literature..
Review: I can tell you that this book does not disappoint.

I just finished Ms. Morris's book and the voices are still ringing in my head. Their rhythm, cadence, and slang are truer than any I can remember reading, and I can only imagine another of this author's books surpassing it.

The characters are beautifully flawed, beautifully passionate, and impossible to truly pigeon-hole as...activist, "chip off the 'ol block", or, for that matter, predator or victim. It is intelligently written and humbly presented, allowing the characters to BE the story. From the first page to the last you see the textures of these characters and you follow them through this journey, all the while realizing that they, and not the scenario, are what make you flip the page (I would be as enthralled with Jason at 70 as I was with him at 6 and 21).

"Too Beautiful for Words" brilliantly captures our inability to choose whom we love, and yet, our ability to ultimately choose our lives (for better or worse). It is a testament to our complexity as people and the ways in which we all see ourselves and each other for what we are and choose to love anyway.

Monique W. Morris, you have a fan for life. I will sieze your next book before the ink has dried.

Summary: Inspiration
Review: I havent read this book but i am very interested.
If you have read the book and enjoyed it then i urge you to listen to the song "Me & Jesus the Pimp in a '79 Granada last night" by The Coup, from the album "Steal This Album".Its a hip-hop/rap song but The Coup is an Oakland based Political group.Boots Riley (The Coup) wrote and performed the song and if your wondering what this has to do with the book, this is the song that inspired the book.Even if you dont like rap you will like this song. You'll also see where Morris got the title "Too Beautiful For Words".

Summary: Too Beautiful for Words is Truly Too Beautiful for Words
Review: I laughed, I cried, I was scared, and I was happy. Monique W. Morris is an excellent author. The novel takes you to every level of emotion possible. I give this book 10 stars. If you have ever had a friend if not yourself that loves a man more than herself or even life you can identify Chinaka. Her son,Jason the product of a pimp named,God does an ultimate act of revenge and love for his mother. Read this book! Read this book!

Summary: More than I expected
Review: I thought this would be a grim little story about street life but it is so much more. Yes, parts of it are extremely ugly. This a about a pimp, a hooker and their son after all but ultimaltely it's about hope and the human spirit. I know this will sound trite but Ms. Morris's fiction really is too beautiful for words.

Summary: Criminal Activity and Sexual Favors
Review: I want to applaude the author Monique W. Morris, who provided an indept look into prositution and criminal activity in Oakland, California. I live in San Francisco, and know first hand the ills and effects of prositution on single black females in the Bay Area. The book covered points such as the effects of genertional influences and the negative programming of young black males to become pimps, and the lack of personal control affecting young black and latina girls in the region. Morris, keep up the good work.

Summary: This book is important

Summary: Raw and Interesting....
Review: Raw and Rivoting.....
I think Ice T once said that trying to explain "the pimpin' game" to a normal, rational person is like trying to explain rocket science to a wino....you just won't get it. Well, Monique Morris's tale provides a look into the psyche of a pimp (Jesus), a prostitute (Angie/Peaches), their son (Jason), and a progressive thinking Black Panther woman (Chinaka/Jessica) where we get a fictionalized glimpse of their world, their lives, their circumstances, and their reasons and rationale for their actions. It's a sad, raw, dismal look at life on the streets, but it provides a clearer picture of how young, misguided adults can be lead astray by seasoned predators. Morris takes us full circle from the beginning with Angie as a teenager and how she entered the life; Jesus's entry into the pimpin' game; Jason's life; and Chinaka's entry into the Black Panther movement. The novel moves well, the interplay between the character's is handled well, and the surprise ending was an added bonus. I enjoyed this but would only recommend it to those who appreciate a raw, unrestrained novel.

Summary: Morris a unique writer
Review: The author captures the unique talents of each charater in the story. The story lines takes you on a journey to the past through the eyes of Peaches and Jesus, and brings you to the present day in the eyes of Jason their son. I really enjoyed reading this book and recommend it highly.
