Summary: Wonderful Story
Review: I bought Wild Indigo to read on an airplane trip. I thought it was great! I had meant to save some of the book for the return trip, but I got so involved in the plot that I had to finish it in the hotel that night.

I guess that everyone has their own tastes and not every book will appeal to every reader. Personally, I've read dozens of historical romances and I think this one really shines. The history was interesting, the hero was appealing and the love scenes were steamy!

Summary: This book is great! A warm, sexy, and interesting romance!
Review: I fell in love with these characters, and the story itself had me both laughing and sobbing. You'll love it!

Summary: The best historical romance I've ever read
Review: I mostly read historical ficiton, but I read a lot of historical romance, as well. This is the first historical romance I've ever read that incorporated what I love about both genres so beautifully. Interesting, well developed characters; a multi-layered plot; well researched history; an engrossing relationship. It has it all. I particularly loved the hero and his internal conflict. I've read this book twice now.

Summary: Interesting locale, not so interesting book
Review: I purchased this book because I live close to Old Salem (where the book takes place). I read lots of books, but not usually romance novels - thought I'd give this a try, due to the location and since I had met the author, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Although the locale and time period were very much of interest to me, the rest of the book was pretty much horrible. I was quite surprised to hear everyone else rave about it. The book is choppy, at best and makes for a very long read.

I have read other romance novels since, so I can conclude that it is not the entire genre of romance novels that turns me off, simply this particular book.

Summary: A great historical romance!
Review: I'm picky about romances, but I loved Wild Indigo. It's a nice change to read about a hero who's a man's man, but still decent and sensitive, not a jerk. The plot was a page-turner as well!

Summary: This book was so wonderful, I cried, and I never cry.
Review: Stanton's warm characters coupled with the Moravian setting make for a romance so fabulous that I think it's the best romance I've read in years. I truly, truly loved this book!

Summary: A good read with a few problems
Review: The Moravian atmosphere is dealt with sympathetically and with great interest; the sexual tension, plot and characters are built well. I kept turning the pages. But the problems arising in the bedroom are something I've seen in too many romance novels (WHY don't these people talk about their problems? WHY is it that the bride never knows what to do?). It's done well, but it's becoming a cliche -- although it doesn't bother the readability of the book. I thought the heroine should have been more concerned/traumatized by what happened to her adoptive Indian family, something that occurred at a later age, than with her first family, the one she couldn't remember. The Indians were glossed over, practically forgotten. What bothered me in particular was the very end, the sudden comic-book devolution of the villain, just how much of a dastard he is (what's wrong with letting him hold on to a touch of humanity for realism?) (I expected him to be twirling his moustache by the end) and how he's dealt with. It was totally beyond the level of what was needed and spoiled the book, which is otherwise quite a good one for the genre. "His Stolen Bride" is the better book, a sequel to this one dealing with one of the sons.

Summary: interesting story
Review: This is my first book by Judith Staton, and I enjoyed it. I especially like the insights it gave me into the Moravian lifestyle. Before reading the book I really had no idea about it and as a result I even researched a little on Moravians. The main problem I had with the book is that Retha was very annoying sometimes with all her fears of the bedroom. I didn't like the fact that they didn't discuss their sexual problems until almost end. But overall a good read.
