Rating: Summary: Enthralling Review: I picked this up at a used book store as the title intrigued me and it was set in medieval Scotland which is a period of history I enjoy reading about. Little did I know what I was in store for. As soon as I started the first chapter I was hooked and hooked good. Of course it is the story of a forced marriage like so many others but it set itself apart from many others I have read. The two main characters click almost immediately. This love story was written around Scotland's bid to gain her freedom from England but like so many others this love story does not get lost with the telling of history. I recently read Shannon Drake's "Seize the Dawn" (I have read many of her works and have enjoyed most of them)and unfortunately I could not relate to two main characters in the story and their love for one another as it was caught up in a history lesson. I enjoy history, in fact it was one of my favorite courses all through my years of schooling but when I read an romance novel I want to feel what the hero and heroine are feeling, as if you were really there. I want to envision the passion they share for one another as well as understand what life was like during that particular time period. A good historical romance writer has the ability use historical data and weave it around a sound romantic tale. I have to rate this up there with Elizabeth Lowell's "Untamed" and Heather Graham's "Golden Surrender" which are two of my most favorite novels. Emma Harrington gives you the opportunity to witness this tender, passionate and all consuming love between Isobel and Dallas. I wanted the book to go on and on. I will certainly try and find other works by this author and read them as well. If you have the opportunity to find this book grab it. You will be pleased, at least I was.
