Rating: Summary: Nice try Review: An ear for conversation and some fun character ideas cannot hide this books superficiality and lack of depth. The ending is simply awfull and lacks both impact and credability. One I regret wasting my time reading.
Rating: Summary: Prurience and bad taste Review: I was given this book to read by my daughter and I was shocked by the them and the lifestyle it obviously advocates. The sexual mores that are followed are abominable.
Rating: Summary: Banal and lacks credibilty Review: One cannot identify with the characters and cannot suspend incredulity. The plot borders on silly. The author wastes her obvious writing skill in this effort.
Rating: Summary: Worth the read. . . Review: This book is a good portrayal of life in the mind of a sex therapist. It includes aspects of romance, comedy, parenting, friendship, and obsessive behavior. For a relaxing read that also keeps you on your toes until you've finished it, pick up Poor Kevin.
Rating: Summary: Witty, fresh and thought-provoking Review: This is a great idea - a sex therapist who gets entangled with one of her clients and led into compromising situations.Margam has introduced a new kind of character, too - Louise is a woman who is not obsessed with men, but actually thinks about things seriously and has some good ideas about gender roles, sexuality and crime and punishment. She is someone you can identify with, even though you might find some of her hands-on method of therapy a little shocking. The story revolves around her relationship with Kevin, who is a good-looking, solvent thirty-something Irishman. But he has problems of his own. The tension that builds through the book, is whether Louise will realise who it is who's been following her and leaving mysterious notes. Is it Kevin, is it one of her clients, her new cross-dressing boyfriend, or someone altogether more dangerous? The denouement is satisfying and a little intriguing. It's a short, funny, intelligent book. Like a breath of fresh air - the women have interesting lives and the men are not pathetic, but complicated. Read it for the summer - light but thought-provoking.
