Rating: Summary: pleasantly surprized at 35 Review: I absolutely adored this book. Picked it up at the Port Authority in NYC for a bus trip to CT. I thought it was a very humorus story with a few sprinkles of surprize in it. It was refreshing to have picked up such a cute story that served the purpose of being a quick read and a good story without the characters even having one sexual encounter. As a 35yr old single female, I thought the "husband hunt" was true to life and very ideal. I had to force myself to put it down, so that I would have something to read on the return trip. I will definitely read it again, this time after a nice hot shower and a bowl of butter pecan icecream; on one of my "do nothing but relax" weekends.
Rating: Summary: Bettye Griffin has done it again! Review: I could not put this book down. It is so typical of the way some single woman feel as far as wanting to find that perfect someone. I have gone through some of the same scenarios as these characters have. This book is a must read.

Rating: Summary: Refreshingly Surprized Review: I thought this story was just too cute...It was full of wonderful writing and loaded with suprizes. I thought it was a great story line that is so true to life for some 35+ singles. It was even more refreshing that the story provided love and fantasy without even one single sexual encounter. It was a really good deal for a quick pick. I had to force myself to put it down to have something to read on the return trip. I would definitely read it again (after a hot bubblebath) with a bowl of butterpecan ice cream on one of my "do nothng weekends".
Rating: Summary: Bettye Griffin has done it again! Review: I've read every one of Ms. Griffin's books, but this is by far my favorite. What an enjoyable story, both comical and realistic. I've recommended this book to many friends, and they've all come to the same conclusion. Many of us could relate to the story and the characters. It was hilarious how Vivian and Zack kept running into each other with Vivian's date needing medical attention. I especially liked the way Vivian's numerous pet peeves were scattered throughout the story and share many of them myself. This was a fabulous read and Ms. Griffin's best work to date. Sounds like it would make a perfect two-hour episode of Sex and the City!

Rating: Summary: The Perils of Looking for Love Review: Prelude to a Kiss, is a wonderful romantic comedy about perils of looking for love. Vivian St. James is not accident prone, but every time she goes out socially something happens that sends her date to the emergency room. Now, Vivian is paranoid, but she is so tired of being home alone. Gun shy from past blind dates, she balks at her best friends latest attempt to set her up with a prominent doctor. But from the emergency room in New York City, to the slopes on a weekend ski trip, each medical emergency seems to throw her in the path of Dr. Zachary Warner. While the good doctor has been trying to get Vivian's attention, she has been ignoring the palatations she feels each time she sees him; she is afraid she'll jinx him too. Now fate or something is on Zach's side, while doing minor repairs at the apartment building he owns, he has an accident. Help arrives and he is surprised that it's Vivian, she is one of his tenants. This is my fourth read by Bettye Griffin, and this hilarious account of mind over matter was as enjoyable as the first three. I applaud Ms.Griffin on penning yet another entertaining read and I look forward to adding her future works to my collection. Reviewed by aNN Brown

Rating: Summary: What a Way to Get a Man Review: Vivian St. James bemoans the fact that her biological clock is ticking but feels helpless to do anything about it. She has one unfulfilling date after another. What a way to start a new year. Ever hopeful she goes to a party and meets a nice enough young man, only to have to accompany him to the emergency room where Dr. Zack Warner is on duty. He thinks this lady that came in with another man is a real looker but doesn't speak up. Then he encounters her again in the emergency room with yet another of her dates. Is Vivian a disabled man magnet or is she just going through a streak of bad luck? Zack doesn't know but he comes to the rescue again for yet another of Vivian's male friends, this time, on a ski trip. Vivian wonders what Zack thinks of her; the only time they have contact is when she is in the presence of a man who needs medical attention. As fate would have it, Zack and Vivian are connected through that six degrees of separation that so often is a part of life. Through circumstances neither one of them have control over Zack is the one who needs to be nursed and Vivian is elected to be that nurse. Through all of this, though they are attracted to one another, they cannot seem to get together. I liked that the reader got to see a character that was less than perfect, as a matter of fact, Vivian had idiosyncrasies I could relate to. The story was peppered with things and people that irritated her. At first I thought the protagonists missed too many opportunities to connect but that was the irony of the whole plot being they were on a collision course of love.
