Rating: Summary: I may read it again! Review: Delightful. The setting reminds me of a small, rural town along the Potomac River in Virginia, one I visit frequently. More importantly, the character development and story line are super. This is a story for now--professional men and women seeking alternatives and purpose beyond their ongoing professional pursuits. Ms. Woods uses her words judiciously; it is a fast read that is captivating.
Rating: Summary: Living with a southern scoundrel Review: From the moment I moved back to Virginia a few years ago to open my own bookstore, I wanted to find the perfect story for the setting. First came Gracie MacDougal, a woman with no ties to the area, a type-A personality and a major midlife crisis. Then came Kevin Patrick Daniels. Ah, Kevin . . . the most laid-back man ever to don a pair of faded denims. For months I lived with this sexy scoundrel popping up in my thoughts -- and Gracie's life. Kevin's romance with Gracie is the ultimate romp, despite a slew of relatives who plague his life like locusts. I hope you'll enjoy living with Kevin and Gracie, too.
Rating: Summary: Great Book, well written, in classic Romance Style Review: I liked this book very much, it was a good story with all the classic Romance traditions...Ms. Woods delivers another winner.
Rating: Summary: Did anyone edit this book?? Review: I stumbled upon this at the library, and after reading it, I could see why it's out of print. The story engaged me enough for awhile, but then it was as if the author put it down, and returned to it YEARS later. Throughout 2/3 of the book, Kevin's niece was a ten year-old child. Then, out of nowhere, Woods writes "the teen ran after Gracie" referring to the same niece! And, at first I thought it was just a typo...but, alas, the "teen" took on an entirely different (consciously adolescent) way of speaking. Did Woods forget a character she created?? That is ridiculous! And, it completely broke the sense of 'escapism' for me. Here I'd grown to semi-care about a little child, and now she'd turned into a sixteen year-old in the same summer?! Beyond that, where was the EDITOR when all this was going on?? Absolutely absurd. Also, Woods builds good ... tension between Gracie and Kevin for about the first 2/3 of the book, and then it just fizzles into a very anticlimactic, forced situation where the heroine doesn't even say "I love you" ONCE to him, even at the very end of the book. What? This was another reason why it seemed as though Woods had gone back to this story, very half-heartedly, and did a slap-dash finishing job. And, forgive me if this is tacky, but I'd hoped there would at least be some steamy [scenes] to move the story along a little, but again I was disappointed. Oh well. Obviously I don't recommend you read this one. ....

Rating: Summary: DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! Review: If she's a good writer, you'd never know it reading this book. Cliche's abound. The heroine's name is Gracie and there's nothing Amazing about her. I get the feeling Ms. Woods didn't do her homework, vaguely casting Gracie as some sort of luxury hotel executive who gets fed up / burned out and decides to turn over a new leaf, start on a new life, and buy this perfect little house in this quaint little town to start a bed & breakfast. The only thing standing in her way is the good looking lazy lawyer Kevin Patrick Daniels (I know his full name because the heroine annoyingly refers to him that way throughout the book) who spends all day lounging in a hammock thinking. OK, he's got a job, he just needs to get a life! Men DO stuff! And it's more interesting to read scenes in which something is happening. Anyway, Woods tries to redeem Kevin Patrick Daniels by showing us how he's responsible for everyone in his life and this is favorite way to spend any down time he gets.! The characters are all so annoyingly perky and I don't believe for one minute that Gracie REALLY wants that house or the reason Kevin gives for not wanting to sell it. They're stiff, one dimensional, cardboard characters. The only reason I suffered the entire book was because I'd already paid for it as part of my regular monthly book club shipment. I suspect Kensington was trying to clear out their inventory and dumped this one on the members.
Rating: Summary: A down home mixture of romance and humor . Review: Outstanding read, characters easy to relate to and Ms. Woods descriptive passages help one to experience life in Seagull Point, small town america. Recommend to one and all, enjoy!

Rating: Summary: What an Amazing fun book! Review: Sherryl Woods has given us a cast of characters that are a delight to know in a setting where we would love to spend time. You can feel the tension mount when Gracie, a woman on the move, finds her new "hometown" plans in jeopardy by the laid back Kevin. Trouble brewing? You bet! And its going to take a help of help from Gracie's former employer Max (is he really helping?) and Kevin's aunt Delia to sort out the tangles and bring peace, calm and romance to Sea Gull point.
