Rating: Summary: A good insight to how the talent 10% lives! Review: This book reads easily and I read it in one day.Benidle Little provides good insight to the lives of BAP. In comparison to her first novel, Good Hair, did a better job in developing the characters and providing the readers with more insight to the differnt lives of the characters. I was glad to read some of the same characters from Good Hair in this novel. I enjoyed being part of the lives of Miles, Abra, Cullen, and Natasha. My favorite character is Natasha--she is confident, independent, strong, and down-to-earth. She reminds me of the strong 90's woman. I wish Abra and Cullen would have gotten back together. I hope she has the baby in the next novel. I was disappointed with the ending--It is time for Miles to grow up! I would love to see the sequel and see if he and Cynthia paths cross again. Keep the good work up Mrs. Little.
Rating: Summary: Made me depressed, but it was ok. Review: I read this book pretty quickly...I guess that means that there was not much depth. But that is not always the case. I really just wanted to finish a book that depressed me. As a single black female I am already depressed at the fact that the pickings are slim. This book (although fiction) confirms that. I do know that the good men are out there. Overall the book was ok...it kept my interest for a day and half. I'll wait on her next one and hopefully the characters will be more interesting, NEXT...
Rating: Summary: sequel to come Review: I enjoyed this book and look forward to a sequel. Most of the characters could be continued in another book easily. The broken relationships need some closure in my opinion. I really want Abra to have a family with child included. Miles need therapy and while Cullen found his itch,he needs another meaningful relationship. I look forward to the next read.
Rating: Summary: Okay. Review: This book wasn't the best, but it wasn't bad either. I found it to be a slow read at the beginning but, it picked up toward the middle of the book. Apparently, Little's books always seem to move that way, as it also did in Good Hair. Overall, it was a good book.
Rating: Summary: An excellent book, and easy read! Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I am glad that Abra decided to attend at least one counseling session, which gave her the boost she needed to get on with her life. Natasha's sister, Natalie, needed an "attitude adjustment", and Miles got what he deserved-lonely, although I am glad he finally made "partner" at his firm. I enjoyed reading this one better than "Good Hair".
Rating: Summary: Watch out Ms. McMillan! Review: I almost didn't read this book because I was so disappointed with "Good Hair." I am glad I took a chance because "The Itch" was better written and the characters were much more developed and much less superficial. "The Itch" was a phenomenal read and it was obvious that Ms. Little took into consideration some of the criticisms of "Good Hair." Incorporating Miles and Sherry into the new book was brilliant, and gave her readers a better understanding of these two characters we loathed in "Good Hair." The only thing I didn't like about the book was the incredibly sad ending. Keep up the good work, Benilde. I can't wait to read your next effort!
Rating: Summary: The Itch needs a little Benadryl Review: Ms. Little weaved a great story initially, so much so that I plowed through the book in one sitting this afternoon. However, I think that the story made me, as a black woman in her late 20's who dates universally on the race scale, cautious and uneasy. I have met the social climbing black men described in this book, and at the same time, it makes me wonder why both characters had to be so commitment phobic, and unfaithful (or a reputation of such). This troubled me. Overall, the story moved, and the ending was basically lackluster.
Rating: Summary: A good book Review: This was the second book that I read by this author. I liked this book a great deal. I really liked the character Natasha Coleman and I enjoyed the friendship she shared with character Abra Dixon. I also liked the way the author intertwined two of the characters Sherry Steptoe and Miles Bennett from her previous book, Good Hair. And Abra's husband was a dog! And she let him be one. I was glad that she left.
Rating: Summary: The Itch. I'm still scratching¿.. Review: A great story with a bad ending. This is the first book that I've read by Ms. Little and I truly enjoyed her writing, I just didn't like the ending. After that really good story and building of characters the ending left a big blank. A good read but a little disappointing.
Rating: Summary: This book is the BOMB!!! Review: For this to be Ms. Little's second novel, she has done an outstanding job. The itch tells how a sister can deal with the ups and downs of life. Ms. Little is a blessed artist. Keep up the good work.
