Summary: A very enjoyable book!
Review: This story is about Caitlin, a young girl growing up on the family farm in South Carolina before the Civil War. The author successfully draws you into Cait's life by following her experiences of living through the Civil War and the years that follow. Cait is memorable for her strong sense of family and incredible inner strength. Civil War buffs will enjoy James "Pete" Longstreet's role in the story. The author gives him the opportunity to voice his thoughts concerning military decisions and post-war controversies. However, take care to separate fact from fiction where Pete's character is concerned. Overall, the book is very entertaining from the first page to the last.
