Summary: A tired plot, a thoroughly unlikable heroine
Review: Sandra Brown is a favorite author--I always buy her books as soon as they are released. I wish I had waited on this one. The plot is old and tired (A criminal fixates on a juror at his trial--haven't they made a movie or two with this plot line?), the heroine is unlikable and unbelievable and I am sick to death of maverick cops. Can someone write a book where the hero isn't a tortured loner? Ms. Brown is far more talented than this book. Take a pass, borrow it from a friend or the library if you must, but save your money for her next book. I'm sure it will be better.

Summary: a reader from Australia
Review: I have been reading Sandra Brown books for a long time and I have to say that this is some of her best work, the way she played the carecters was very interesting, Lozada makes your skin crawl. From the beging I was captivated by the story. After reading one review in particular I din't know wether to buy the book, but I'm glad I did, this is one book I will be reading again.

Summary: This Book Was Great!
Review: I started this book on a Sunday and finished it Wednesday night. The storyline was great, the characters interacted with each other tremendously and the villian in this book always kept you wondering what his next move was going to be! A must-read for Sandra Brown fans!!

Summary: Not A Bad Romantic Suspense!
Review: This romantic suspense moved at a real nice pace. I've read stories with creepier villains, but he was disturbing nonetheless. Wick, Rennie and Oren were characters that you come to care about and root for. Wouldn't mind hearing from them in future novels. Eventhough I've read much better from Ms Brown, I still enjoyed.

Summary: Not a boring paragraph
Review: If you are anything like me and like a book that can constantly keep your attention, then this is the book for you, there wasn't a boring paragraph in the whole book. From the first to the last page I was completely spellbound.

Summary: Sandra Brown Has Done Better
Review: I am a big fan of Sandra Brown's work and have been for years. I was eagerly awaiting publication of The Crush, but it turns out I could have waited longer. The book, to say the least, was extremely disappointing.

The two main characters are not likable, even with their quirks and learning about some of the things they'd been through in their pasts. As a previous reader said, Detective Wick Threadgill was careless, incompetent, and some of his actions bordered on ridiculous. Rennie Newton started out too cold for anyone to grow to like. There was nothing about her that made me believe Wick could want to fall for her.

Several plot points made no sense. For one, why would a disgraced cop on leave (Wick) be asked to help in an investigation, seemingly without the approval of any of the higher ups and especially since he screwed up a previous case regarding the same criminal? Lozada could have been caught without Wick's help (or lack thereof). Two, how could Lozada come and go in and out of Rennie's house without being seen, especially since the police had her under surveillance? For that matter, how could Lozada come and go at all without being followed and seen? Most major criminals are usually kept under constant surveillance.

The last several chapters seemed rushed. Characters actions changed abruptly and without much explanation. The settings were boring and perfunctorily described without any real detail, particularly Galveston. I saw the ending coming a mile away when Wick and Oren Wesley were "tussling" in the interview room at the police building. Lozada's "scorpions" were referenced a lot, but they didn't figure into the final confrontation. Ms. Brown probably thought we would expect them to be, so she didn't use them.

All in all, a very disappointing novel from Sandra Brown. Her writing as well as her plots are usually clever, fun and fascinating. This one, sad to say, was not. I do not recommend it.

Summary: Good start, unbelievable love making, bad ending
Review: I must say that the story did intrigue me and ignoring the bad words I could say I loved it, but when it got to the most important part, that is the "sex scene" I became disgusted.
First of all the sex scenes are supposedly to be the most important part of a relationship with the two main characters since once it is done their attitude toward each other changes.
Well I found this part of romance rather silly and umbelievable in this book, can a woman do it after being hard to get just because her horses were killed? Oh, please!
For the entertainment and good laughs there 3 stars but for the romance in it, forget it Ms. Brown

Summary: Bought this book twice
Review: My three year old grandson dropped The crush in the bathtub ad there was no way I was going to leave the second half of this page turner unfinished.

Ricky Roy Lozada is a serial killer who enjoys his work after a lifetime of hating his parents, his only brother, his classmates, etc. Dr. Rennie Newton is a good surgeon who endured jury duty out of a sense of responsiblity and ended up on the jury of a trial that acquited Lozada of murder. Wick is a burned out ex-cop trying to come to grips with the death of his brother and trying to find a way to eventually "stop" Lozada.
Oren Wesley is the cop who is trying to tie the current case together.

When Dr. Newton's colleague is killed, Lozada contacts her and initiates what he thinks will become an intimate relationship. The Crush is a story of a stalker, a woman with a lot of baggage in her past, and a couple of good cops who are trying hard to work together. The characters are well developed and the writing keeps the suspense going to the surprise ending. Wick and Rennie Newton are an unlikely couple, but of course they get together. It would be great to see them back in another book.

Summary: Oh Get Real
Review: This is the best Sandra Brown could do? The storyline was the same soup warm over from a previous book. Cmon the characters were totally uninteresting not even Lozanda could not resurrected this stale book. When I think of Sandra Brown previous books such as Witness and Exclusive which were great novels. Then to sit down and read this book it an insult.

Summary: Page Turning Suspense !
Review: Oh, I loved this story. I thought it was one of the better Sandra Brown Stories. A real page turner! I started the book and couldn't put it down until after I finished the whole book, it was that compelling.
