Summary: Great book
Review: This is another hit of Brown's. Her suspense novels are excellent. I've read a few of her romances, but her suspense romances are much better reads. I love how Brown doesn't just write from the hero and heroine's point of view. In The Crush she took us into the mind of a physcopath (Lozada)who developed a 'crush' on the forewoman of the jury who aquitted him of murder. He is obssesed with Rennie. He shows his "love" for her by murdering a collegue of hers due to the fact that he got picked for a promotion over her. Bring in Wick, ex-cop and heartthrob. (They always are) Lozada murdered Wick's brother and then ruined the investigation that would have put him in jail. He finally gets his chance to put Lozada away for good if he helps his ex-partner. At first he thinks that Rennie is in a league w/ Lozada. Then he comes to find out that she is being stalked and vows that he will do anything to protect her. They fall in love, blah, blah, blah. It really is worth the read and I rarely find a hardback that I will buy since they are so much more expensive!

Summary: Keeps You in Suspense All the Way Through!
Review: This is the first time I have read Sandra Brown's books, and I really enjoyed this one. In The Crush, Dr. Rennie Newton, was an exacting, and impersonal surgeon. When she was summoned to jury duty, she brings to the courtroom the same level of competence and composure that she always does with her patients. It is this commitment to precision that compels her to deliver a not guilty verdict in the murder case against the notorious contract killer, Lozada. It will be the most regrettable decision of her life. Rennie's trial with Lozada doesn't exactly end there with his acquittal. Her carefully structured world begins to fall apart when a colleague of Rennie's is brutally slain. Lozada's menacing shadow looms over the murder, but it's Rennie the detectives suspect. The privacy she has culitvated and protected at all costs is violated by the police as wellas Lozada. And when he begins an earnest courtship, insinuating himself into every corner of her life, it becomes terrifingly real that he is obsessed with having her. Wick Threadgill is a detective on indefinite leave from the Fort Worth PD, who has his own personal agenda for the contract killer. Temperamental, bitter, and driven by loyalty and love, Wick is determined to destroy Lozada. And as determined is Lozada is to possess Rennie Newton. A very absorbing book all the way through.

Summary: Solid Thriller-Romance with great characters
Review: I found this book to be hard to put down in the classic thriller style. It's nothing out of the ordinary as far as the genre goes (then again, isn't that why we like thrillers?)... but it's well-paced with interesting turns. Thriller-romances are easy to come by, fast to read, and often somewhat forgettable. What makes this worth 4 stars to me is the depth of the character development. These are people who are fun to get to know and who don't show everything up front. By creating characters with distinct personalities, Brown creates a book that sucks you in and makes you interested to see what happens to characters you care about. Even the 'bit players' are written interestingly and colorfully. I agree with other posters - this would make a great movie... and that's why it's a great way to escape during some free time.

Summary: Brad Pitt as Wick and Morgan Freeman as Oren in The Crush
Review: Cudos to whoever chose Tom Wopat as narrator for the unabridged audio version of The Crush. I had thought nothing could come close to Envy, but The Crush came close. Each new revelation about the characters' past kept me on the edge of my {car}seat. The editor's review above managed to slam both the author and readers alike with the "aimed toward eighth-grade readers" and "trite phrases" comments. Hopefully Ms. Brown will "laugh all the way to the bank". Yes, I am a long-time fan of Sandra Brown and thrilled to report The Crush is a winner. I could just see the scene at the wedding reception where Rennie and Wick meet for the first time. Imagine Brad Pitt in a suit and wearing cowboy boots. Whew! I loved it that the surgeon heroine was beautiful, intelligent, successful and independent (but lonely). The hot-headed cop hero respected her, but wasn't intimidated: "You couldn't melt ice on her ass". Great book, suspense, romance and laughter, who could ask for more? Well, maybe Brad Pitt...

Review: Oh. *blink, blink* is the book over? Sandra disappointed me with this one. Slow, boring, predictable. I love Sandra, but couldn't get into this one at all.

Summary: Entertaining Enough
Review: This story was entertaining enough to make me want to finish the book. Kudos to the author for creating a good villian - a memorable and creepy one. Granted, the plot follows the usual formula of this genre (girl in trouble meets boy - girl falls for boy - but is he the hero or villian? - boy gets girl in end), but it was an enjoyable and somewhat suspenseful read nevertheless. Well written and engaging despite some loose ends.

Summary: Another good read
Review: Sandra Brown does not disappoint. I have no regrets when it comes to reading one of her suspense novels. I like the way she writes. This book was better than I expected because the liner notes were too brief and a bit misleading. I thought it more in the vein of Envy with a secret (the real truth about the shooting in the den), and a controversial act to catch the bad guy that makes you want to read a follow-up by Scott Turow. I like the way Sandra Brown gives you the story from several characters point of view, but I thought there were a few loose ends like the scorpions... Not as .... or crude as some of her novels, more romantic, which is better.

Review: Rennie Newton is a surgeon who is being stalked by a contract killer name Lozada. Wick Threadgill is a cop whose brother was killed by Lozada. Fate brings Rennie and Wick together in their quest to not only escape the ruthless killer but also bring him to justice. Part romance novel, part thriller and suspense, this is a book that is hard to put down. I loved every minute of it.

Summary: Suspense to the nth degree
Review: I bought this book at the airport when my flight was delayed. It was my 4th Sandra Brown book so I new I was in for a treat. I finished it in 4 days because you never find a good stopping point for a Sandra Brown book. I thought the storyline was great and very suspenseful but the romance started too late in the book.

Summary: Straight ahead plot & characters still deliver the goods
Review: A disgruntled ex-cop is recruited back to the police force to work on a crime featuring a reformed slut, a melodramatic bad guy and a skeptical partner. Sound familiar? Sure it does, as this set-up has been used in dozens, if not hundreds, of prior novels and films. However, despite the lack of imagination in the plotting and characters, I still found myself enthralled by Sandra Brown's "THE CRUSH." She is a capable writer that can create a page turner, even when most readers can accurately predict the coming events. There are no surprises in "THE CRUSH", except my own surprise in actually enjoying the book. Plain and simple, this is a fun read.
