Rating: Summary: Things are Not always what they seem Review: EJD has again blown my mind. I have had the honor of reading another one of his books (of course, I've read them all) and his growth is unmatched. EJD still is and will probably stay one of the best male writers ever. In The Other Woman, EJD shows how a lovely home can be turned upside down. This book had me taking a look at my marriage and wondering if everything was as they seem. I could not put this marvelous book down. I cried when Freckles cried. I laughed when Freckles laughed. And if you've read the book, you would definitely know that I moaned when Freckles moaned. The book was one of the more serious books by EJD as was Milk... Serious issues were addressed, and although we may desire complete closure of the issues, life is not always that easy. Questions go unanswered and unasked. That's what makes this book so unique. You have to come to your own conclusions with his guidance. Again, this thought provoking book, is one of EJD's best and I'm sure he will only get better with time.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Review: This is a fast paced, edge of your seat, with a twist kind of book. I started reading this book, and I could not put it down. The characters are different and interesting. They will mesmerize you. Hurry up and read this book, buy it and discuss in your book clubs, at the office, at home. Wherever you can because this book will be discussed for years to come. Like so many of EJD's books. This is my favorite so far!!
Rating: Summary: Consistency, Versatility, Excellence,Dickey! Review: There are some authors that make us laugh, there are some that make us dream. There are some that inspire us to be more than we are, but there are the few that enable us to feel. We have watched Dickey's writing style transform and though at times I have tried to label his style, try to place him in a specific category, he continues to push the envelope and remain outside the box. For any of you that have stumbled upon my reviews, you will notice that I never discuss the story. I often discuss the author's ability to reach his readers. His ability to transfix us to another space and time, his ability to make us feel, his ability to evoke thought and passion. Dickey's The Other Woman has accomplished all these things on so many levels that for me to begin to express to you all how great a read this novel is just won't be enough. You must experience the Dickey experience. The day I received the book the same day I completed the book. Grab yourself a copy today, you will not be disappointed!
Rating: Summary: Hard to put down! Review: The interweaving of characters from previous books is a stroke of genius. The primary message of communicating with your mate is paramount. Once again EJD has come through for his loyal readers. The book starts off at a torrid pace and ends with a bang (literally!). Way to represent North Carolina throughout the book. His ability to paint painstakingly accurate portraits of his characters sans names is remarkable. The Other Woman is a must read for any couple that intends on making it "last forever".
Rating: Summary: It's ok Review: I have all of E.J.D's books, and I loved most of them like Milk in My Coffee, and Friends and Lovers. This isn't his best, but I like it.
Rating: Summary: The best from the best Review: EJD proved to me that he could get even better than BETWEEN LOVERS, his best novel to date in my estimation, by doing it with THE OTHER WOMAN. This is a must read for all people in any type of relationship. Period. A fascinating, searing, sexy, straight up, realistic view of love, marriage, infidelity, and their unshakeable ramifications. Quite simply, a masterpiece.
Rating: Summary: Raising The Bar... Review: As a fellow male author, I find myself reading some of my peers books. Not necessarily for pleasure, but to study. My motto is that in order to be one of the best (There's plenty out there for all of us to share the mantle) you have to read the best. Having said that, I picked up this novel, for I heard so much about it. And I couldn't put it down. The remarkable thing this novel to me was Eric's amazing ability to write it as if he were a woman, especially the love scenes. Utilizing a stacatto rhythm, the erotically crisp style in which he described the bizarre joinder of Freckles and DL was nothing short of outstanding. I found myself thinking of the how I too utilized the IM dialogue in the forthcoming Sistergirls.com Anthology, and how it had to be perfect; and how he accomplished that with the clandestine chats of infidelty. The plot, however... I found to be predictble, as after the scorching middle, I found myself saying the story, though orchestrated by a man, drifted back to another sistergirl book. This is not to say that I did not enjoy the ending, which delivers a telling message. But by admission, I found myself thinking about a mixture of the movies UNFAITHFUL and FATAL ATTRACTION upon its conclusion. That's the only reason why I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5. Eric, you did a great job with this story, man. A brotha gotta give you props. You have raised the bar with this one, dawg. I only hope up and coming scribes like myself can match your excellence. Now, I gotta get back to my final rewrite. William Fredrick Cooper -author "SIX DAYS IN JANUARY..."
Rating: Summary: This is Eric Jerome Dickey's best book Review: I have read all of EJD's books. This is the best one yet. In this book you are introduced to Freckles and she is married to Charles. Freckles has a very demanding career whereas Charles is a school teacher whose job is not quite as demanding. In Freckles mind everything in marriage seems to be ok until she meets Charles. Charles informs Freckles that her husband is having an affair with his wife. After learing this information and then confirming it with Charles, Freckles loses the stability she thought she had in her marriage. I found it amazing that even though Charles cheated he still tried to blame it on his wife. This is one of the best books that I have read this year. Buy it you won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: EJD at his best! Review: EJD you've done it again! What a great read. The characters were people who I could relate to and the ending was totally unexpected. Thanks for all of the great books. Looking forward to the next one.
Rating: Summary: The EJD I know is Back!!! Review: This book was a great read. Each chapter had me looking forward to more lies and decit. One cheating husband lead to sleepless nights, wrecked cars, lost of jobs and ultimately death. This is one of his best. I read this book in less than a day and I can't wait to read his next book to find out what happened to the characters. ( you know he has a habit of telling you about previous characters).
