Summary: A rose by any other name ...
Review: Shakespear was misguided when he wrote the words, "A rose by any other name is just as sweet." EJD was also mistaken.I am a huge fan of Eric Jerome Dickey. I've read all of his novels (except his latest), met him in person, had him sign a few of my books, and will always treasure the picture we shared at Border's Bookstore. As usual, EJD put together another well-written novel that was easy to read and fun to discuss. Unlike other readers; however, I did not believe that this was one of his greatest works. I was really bothered by the fact that the main character/narrator did not have a name(besides the nickname Freckles). I read the book a second time, just to see if maybe EJD left a subtle hint somewhere that I might have missed. I strongly believe that a character's name gives him/her power, personality, and depth. If you were to call a rose, "Chit"-- the imagery would be lost. You can describe a chit, just as you would a rose, but somehow it wouldn't have the same effect. I am not sure that EJD's description in the early chapters of the book portrayed a happily married couple. This was evidenced by their first sexual encounter between the main character and her husband Charles. Their lovemaking was quick, invasive, and lacked tenderness...hardly the sign of a healthy relationship. So I don't understand why other readers thought Charles and his wife were happy at the start of the novel. In the second sexual encounter, Charles used lovemaking as a diversion to keep his wife from asking too many questions about the mysterious fist fight he had at work. I know this will surprise some, but let this be a lesson to men and women out there...satisfying your partner is more than "doing the do". If sex were all we needed to stay happy, everyone one would be grinning from ear to ear. EJD mentioned that the main character had a fear of abandonement (her father left the family), but never expanded on how this part of her life contributed to the fall of her marriage. We no doubt understood the narrator's strive to be a good wife and career woman, but she was not dominant in either role until she decided to turn the tables on her husband and participate in an adulterous affair. You gotta read between the lines to understand that comment. All speaking characters need a confidant, but the best friend in this story got on my last nerve! She really had nothing to contribute to the storyline. EJD should have given her a better role or clipped her from the pages altogether. If you're looking for a happy ending in this book....you'll be disappointed. You might even cry at the end or if you're like me, find a shovel to pick your jaw up-off-the-floor! Shocking results. Overall, this book leaves us all with much to think about. How do you fix a broken marriage scarred by the stones of infidelity? What happens when the hunter (news producer) becomes the hunted? Should you know all of the details of an affair in order to forgive and move on? Would you consider a change in career if your job duties were taking too much time away from your spouse? Finally, I would have preferred an alternate ending. In the book, one of the women discovered that she was pregnant. How would the story have unfolded if the baby was born? Because of the ending, we will never know. Good job EJD! Part II please, this book has much potential. And for God sakes, please give ALL the characters a suitable name.

Summary: A Sizzling and Intimate Must-Read Book
Review: I have read every novel by Eric Jerome Dickey and I am a huge fan of his work. "The Other Woman" was by far, one of the best books I've laid eyes upon (and that's an understatement). This book is written in first-person from a woman's perspective, and it really makes you feel that you are living "Freckles" life. Throughout this book, you think you know what's going to happen, but you really do not. It catches you off guard and will leave you with your mouth hanging wide-open!!! It is one of EJD's most intimate and capturing novels written yet! It is very easy to follow and makes you want to read it without putting it down until you are finished. I absolutely can't wait for the next novel!

If you think the "the other woman" is the only plot...think again. This book has plenty of suspense, surprise, and shock value to last for a while. It really delves into the age old statement, "What goes around comes around," as EJD makes his characters ultimately responsible for their actions.

Summary: A PAGE TURNER YOU CAN'T PUT DOWN!!!!
Review: I have to admit this is one of the BEST books I've read in a long time. It has suspense, romance, hate, love, and everything in between to get you interested. Everything, that I expected to happen, never did. This book was so good I read the book in a day. Just couldn't stop reading!!!!! Also, I was lucky, to get a autographed copy!!!! This book is about Freckles, a news producer. Who thinks her husband, Charles loves her very much and is being faithful. Despite, her working the opposite hours of him. Which she knows really stresses him out! Freckles, doesn't like her job expecially because of "Tyrant" Tyra, who likes control and not very flexiable with the employees. Except, for her friend, Yevette, who gives her advise on how to handle men. Who has been divorced and doesn't want a commited relationship-- just sex from men. One day David Lawerence, the husband of Jessica, who's having an affair with Charles, shows up at Freckles job and calls her work. When she finally talks to DL, she catchs up with lies that her husband has told. And realizes the passion she had left behind for her career. And that they have a kind of bond -- that can never be. Read the book to get the rest of the 411!

Summary: A true page turner!
Review: I read TOW in 3 days and still have the bags under my eyes to prove it. lol. It is always amazing how Mr. Dickey writes. One has to keep reminding him/herself that a man is writing this because he delves into the female pysche so well. "Freckles" pulls us into her world and we experience her emotions with her. Anger. Betrayal. Deception. Vengeance. Lust. Love. Regret. Confusion. David Lawrence is one bad mutha (shut yo mouth!) for real. The cat did not play. There are enought twists and turns in this book that will have the reader's mind reeling. We go inside the affair and see the layers of infidelity peeled from various points of views. Just when you think one thing is resolved? BAM! The climax hits and it is something else! TOW will leave you wondering what happened to these tormented souls and wanting more. I've read nearly every book Mr. Dickey has written and he continues to bring IT with each work. Continued success, EJD. Peace. CLB.

Summary: Should be a movie
Review: This is a great story! I am just getting into reading novels by male authors, not at all what I expected.I am amazed at how Dickey is able to tell the story through the eyes of the wife and it be so reflective of the turmoil that we feel after a spouse has been caught cheating.If you have ever been in a situation as such, you WILL be able to relate to this story.Jaw dropping climax! I would love to see this on the big screen. So many genuine, raw, true to life emotions.I look forward to reading more from Dickey.

Summary: I 'm So Shocked
Review: This book even by the cover makes you wonder if the man cheated on the girl or if the women cheated and got with another man. So this caught my attention right away. So contrary to popular belief what is inside this book may turn on the suspicion of thier lovers or wake up other and keep them on alert and others keep their Stuff on the low. This book also is what made me change my opinion on the author so read it and you'll see why.

Review: WOW!! This is EJD's best work to date. In 'The Other Woman', EJD gives the reader a raw, explicit, gutwrenching, and all too real example of adultery and its resulting fallout. If you've ever been cheated on...you need to read this book. If you've ever cheated on your spouse...you REALLY need to read this book.
