Review: Would General Jackson have won the Batttle of New Orleans without the aid of Jean Lafitte's pirates? Perhaps, but many historians say not likely. Might we be under British rule today if the Americans had lost? with Prince Charles as president? What a thought! I have always been intrigue by history's unlikely alliances, mysteries and unusual twists, and the historical archives of Old New Orleans proved quite fascinating along those lines. Researching material for The Last Pirate allowed me to explore some of my favorite places as well as the lure of the sea, old ships and exotic islands.
