Summary: I've waited for months......
Review: Being a North Dakota native this book brings back a feeling of home. The descriptions of the badlands are wonderful. The main character, Ruby, is a strong independent woman who you find your self feeling for, laughing with and cheering on. This book is worth picking up.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great Read !
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book and living the adventures of Ruby at the Dove House... it kept you captivated . I felt like I was there with Ruby and her little sister. Can't wait to read Pearl!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Ruby
Review: I'm an avid reader of anything about the Old West, but I had never read anything by Lauraine Snelling. WHAT A FIND! I was completely transported each time I picked this book up. It didn't matter if I was taking a break, sitting in a busy doctor's waiting room, or waiting to pick up kids at school, I was immediately transported to Dove House with Ruby and "her girls". Then I'd look up and sadly realize I was back in the present day. Even if you're not into the Old West, Ruby is an excellent read!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Can't wait for the next one!
Review: Nobody weaves a story of American pioneers like Lauraine Snelling. Readers will find no pious, folded-hand telling between these covers. The very prim and very naive Ruby ends up on the unsettled Dakotah frontier to claim her mysterious inheritance, which turns out to be a disreputable establishment-- Dove House-- along with a collection of soiled doves. Ruby's first impulse is to hightail it back to New York, but a deathbed promise seals her fate.

Great characters, a rich setting and a rollicking, page-turning plot all insure this will be another winner. I can't wait for the second book in the series.

--Wendy Lawton author of Ransom's Mark, Courage to Run, and others in The Daughters of the Faith series.

Summary: An exciting beginning.....a promising series
Review: Ruby has gone West to see her dying father and to claim her inheritance only to find that a huge surprise and disappointment await her and her little 9 yr. old sister. She cannot even call Little Missouri a town or civilization, but that is just the beginning. Bridging the gap from New York to the wild Dakotas may take more than she has inside her. Snelling does a great job building the setting for the characters for this and future books. I am already reading book two, "Pearl" which hopefully will build on book one.
