Summary: Mixed Review
Review: The good things about Soul Mates Dissipate was that it had an unexpected ending and the old story of a loving son unsuspecting of how much his mother dislikes his girlfriend. The bad things about Soul Mates Dissipate is that it sounds like more time was spent on the sex scenes than any other part of the book, things were going pretty fast for Jada and Wellington, and how so very unrealistic some of the events in the story were. For example, Wellington is an adopted son, which he already knows. Wellington's adopted mother is actually his aunt, who has a bestfriend with a daugther that Wellington marries. Later on it turns out that Wellington wife might be his half sister. Jada picks up a woman and her children off of the street which turns out to be Wellington's full sister. First of all, Wellington was stupid and irresponsible to fall for any of the lies that he was feed through the story, but I like it because the sex scenes is the probably the thing you'll remember most when you finish this book and it is SOOOO!!! much lying and deceit in this book.

Summary: The novel is an awful piece of poorly written garbage!!!!
Review: This book should be located in the porno district with a blue stained cover on it, instead of being portrayed as a mainstreamed love novel. It's nothing more than porno under the guise as true literature. I believe the book should have been written mainly for the XXX market instead of being sold as a romance novel. When the author writes about the numerous sexual encounters between the characters, the novel flows akin to XXX pornorgaphy. But the book tries to come off or should i say get off, as a love story. The only love that i saw in this novel was actually the word love since it was pure porno for hornos. The book is poorly written, the characters are ghetto fabulous at best, and every gauche brand consumer goods were repeatedly named throughout the novel. Its too bad there isn't a minus star category, because i certainly would give this book minus 5 stars. Borrow the book, i did don't waste your money.

Summary: I Don't See What the Big Deal is All About
Review: It is a wonder that this novel sold so well and was picked up by a major, reputable publishing house. It was horrible! The story in and of itself did not match it's summary. Jada and Wellington were not Soul Mates, but Sex Mates at the very least! I did not follow this story well at all and could not find the "meaning" or any depth whatsoever, even it is only lightweight fiction. Like another reader said, save your money, borrow it and give it back right away! This book definitely puts the stigma back into self-published works!... Three thumbs down and no, I am not buying the sequel!

Summary: Enjoyable
Review: Some parts of the book really irked me but all in all it was a good book. It took me a while to get into it though. Don't let that stop you, just go along with the ride........

Summary: Getting Pass the Steamy Scenes
Review: The sex scenes were steamy and a bit too explicit for my taste... but beyond the sex scenes is a story line. I enjoyed the characters as the author introduced them. There was some mystery in how the story line would play out, with some surprises along the way. The author shows how pretentious we can be in our lives: pretend social status, pretend christians, pretend friends and lovers. I think it was well worth the read. I would read the sequel.

Summary: Borrow it
Review: I thought this was going to be a fast read. I wasn't disappointed with it being a fast read because I skimmed through it. The beginning gave you hope, the middle made you want and the end gave you relief it was over. I was not impressed with the character development in the middle of this novel. Most black women would have seen through Melanie's game and played her close. I thought the love scenes were off the hook, but moving to the sermons immediately after left a little to be desired. A bit of a stretch to me. I would not brag about writing this book in a short amount of time, it showed. I borrowed the book and am glad that I did not buy it. I basically skimmed through this book and got the jest of it by doing so. I don't know if I am going to even borrow the next one although I think I know what is going to happen. Unprotected sex -- the last "one" leads to baby, Diamond wants to raise alone, Wellington comes to save the day and they ride off into the sunset. Yeah, it was that predictable!

Borrow it.

Summary: Two is company and three is a crowd.
Review: Zydeco Bookstars enjoyed this book. Jada and Wellington being soulmates was debatable among us. Some thought that this affair should not have happened if they were soulmates and others thought (although this was not acceptable)that no relationship is without some type of challenge that couples will have to face. The author wrote a good book although, we had questions on the timeframe. The book kept our attention and was overall a good book. Melanie was a very bold and real character ( not one that we would like to know) but she kept this story very interesting. She knew what she wanted and she went for it. There was a price to pay but she was willing to take her chances. This is a must read book. Can't wait to see where she will go with the next one.

Summary: My Interest Dissipated!
Review: This novel was a disappointment. I read it because it was a book club selection. The characters were shallow, at best, and the plot was often confusing and extremely unrealistic. Jada Diamond Tanner comes across as a savvy, intelligent young woman who knows what she wants in life and in a mate. Her actions were totally opposite of this. The same can be said for her "soul mate" Wellington. Despite being so in love with Jada he is lured away by a childhood family friend, Melanie. As the plot thickened, the storyline became less and less plausible. The love scenes, though a little risque...No, they were HOT!!... held my attention more effectively than the pretentious, unrealistic, way too perfect characters. Finally, I could have done without the Soul Mate Guide at the end of the book. This one is not high on my list of recommendations.

Summary: Simply Awful
Review: I purchased this book because my book club wanted to read it. What a BIG mistake. First the characters were shallow and phoney, including Jada and the sex scenes came off as hardcore porn. Mrs. Morrison's writing was very confusing and I had to re-read several pages to attempt to get an understanding.
I am a big supporter of black writers however, I would be hesitant to buy Mrs. Morrison's next book. I guess the reason she ended the book like she did was to hope readers would want more.

The only thing I want is my money back.
