Summary: It Was Just Okay. Nothing Special
Review: Before reading this book I read Carl Weber's Baby Momma Drama. Unfortunately for Mary B. Morrison, Carl Weber was a tough act to follow. This story was just okay. I can't say that it is something I will remember reading. The writing style seemed really juvenile and basic. Even the sex scenes left much to be desired. I didn't feel like there was any passion behind the writing, just someone telling a story. It also seemed to jump around a bit. It didn't flow as smoothly as it could have. When a book is really good you hate to see it come to an end. I was okay with this book ending. In fact, I encouraged it to end.

Summary: ENTERTAINING READ!
Review: Soulmates Dissipate is definitely not the type of book I normally read, but I did enjoy it for the entertainment (DRAMA) it encompasses. The characters in this book will take you on a roller coaster ride with their issues of love, infidelity (the sexcapades are SIZZLING), greed, pride, lies, and deceit. All the ingredients for a blockbuster that main stream readers will feast on.

The book also contains a reading group guide, which is excellent for this type of read. It leaves you wanting to discuss the issues and drama in the story. It also includes a sort of reflective self help guide if you will for "The Art of Finding Your Soul Mate," which added a little substance for this entertaining read.

Summary: So what is a soul mate then?
Review: I was truly dissapointed with this book. It lacked any real development. You were not given any insight into how the relationship developed but almost immedaitely the reader was told that the couple were soul mates - what made them soul mates? The explicit sex scnes were an entertaining read I would say but it made you think that the main characters were lust mates rather than soul mates. There was no rhyme or reason to the story at all. Middle class blacks coming across as common trash in my books. Other parts were unbelievable. What woman would have another attractive woman living in her fiancee's flat when there are hotels that she could have gone to? Would real soul mates engage in threesomes? Would you want to share your soul mate? If they were soul mates, how come she dived into bed with Darryl without so much as a thought about the effects of rebounds. The reader portrayed the characters even Jada's 63 y o mother as over sexed amimals. And for that reason, I would tell anyone thinking of buying this book to save their money.

Summary: Not at all what I was expecting
Review: This book is not good at all. Character and situation development seriously lacked. I must admit the very beginning of the book had me engaged, but then it totally changed to...what is this? I live in the Bay Area and the settings were totally unbelievable, the situations were over the top and the general feel of the book went downhill fast. I was on vacation and would read parts to my boyfriend and we just laughed because it was totally not realistic. The main problem I saw was that the author wanted to create an affluent black couple and engage you in thier lives....what she forgot though was that using every possible cliche is not a good idea. Another issue was that people of affluence do not frequent the places she mentions. I think she intended to give a shout out to the bay area clubs and haunts, but they were put together hastily. Everything was like a huge fantasy, so much that I didn't believe anything that was happening. I read many books, and this novel fell into the trap of the African-American author trying to cover all bases and not focusing on writing a good story. No one can have everything, and trying to bring everything into one book wasn't executed well, although it could have been had the author scaled it back. I had expected an honest book, the fact that they didn't get together didn't bother me, it was the fact that everything that DID happen was contrived.

Summary: A dramatic read!
Review: Morrison has got herself a winner with this novel! From her explicit tales of bedroom pleasure to dramatic drama this book is sure to take you on a page turning ride. You will find yourself drawn to her unforgettable characters Wellington and Jada, and you will be dying to forget her most memorable characters Cynthia and Melanie.

Summary: Soul Mates Dissipate
Review: EXCELLENT! It is so well written that I could imagine all the characters. Her description of the perfume that Jada wore and the chocolate cocca butter lite was so vivid that I emailed Mary and asked her if they really exisited and where could I buy them. To my surprise she emailed me the same day and they are real. Once you have read the book you will see what I mean. I'm reading it again in less than two months. It is AWESOME.

Summary: soulmates don't dissipate
Review: This was a very good love story, I really enjoyed the people in this book. It showed what real love is.

Summary: Not my first choice
Review: Too much time was spent of sex scenes. There were some unexpected events and some unrealistic ones as well. The book had a good flow and there were times that I wanted to read more. However, this book would not be my first choice.

Summary: They Do Dissipate
Review: Enjoyable read. With the ending, must be a sequel.

Summary: WOW!!!
Review: I really didn't know what to expect from this novel. After reading some of the reviews, I had mixed feelings. But I have to admit that those feelings disappered after the first page.

This book is about Jada, a thirty something business women, that gets engaged to Wellington, her boyfriend of almost a year. They believe that they are soul mates, but there are different situations that occur thoughout the whole novel that make them question that belief. I won't tell you the whole story, but Melanie, Wellington's godsister, is a house guest at Wellingtons house. This girl has some serious issues that will have you up at night shaking your head. She ends up coming in between Wellington and Jada.

I enjoyed this book to the fullest. I cannot wait until the sequel comes out because Mary Morrison left us hanging at the end of the book. I seriously suggest this book for anyone who loves the drama and hot and heavy love scenes. This is a great book that somewhat deals with reality ( I couldn't believe what Jada did when she was drunk)
:)
