Rating: Summary: A PAGE-TURNER! SOMETHING YOU WON'T PUT DOWN! Review: I polished off the novel in one sitting. Her book wouldn't allow me to do much else. I had to finish it--I wanted to know what happened next! It's an easy read and very entertaining book. The steamy scenes that will make your head spin, are not the heart of the story, but it adds the spice. Being too comfortable in a relationship and not seeing the signs of reality is what the book is really about. Mary has a spectacular way of putting words to paper, and I am looking forward to the sequel. If you are a reader who is tired of "fluffy" and "glossed over" love scenes--then get ready. Mary takes you to the graduate school of sensuality. Class is in! Mary's unique style of sensual writing should have people taking notes and trying it out for themselves. Hats off to Mary Morrison for a job well done! Her next novel can't come soon enough. Don't "borrow" a copy, because you will not want to give it back. Buy your own!
Rating: Summary: An exiting read for those who love mild porn sex scenes Review: The catchy title made me buy this book but I was disappointed after the first couple chapters. The characters are too beautiful and rich to be real and the plot too is unbelievable. I really wanted to see the relationship between Jada and Wellington expand beyond the cliches that we are used to reading about contemporary successful black couples but Mary B. Morrison just did not deliver. Jada came off as being desperate and childish and Wellington came across as being a typical black male who cannot resist raunchy sex with another woman (Melanie) thereby breaking his woman's heart. In many ways this book was a ghetto fabulous read but for the serious reader, its appeal is minimal. In the end, we are left to wonder if Jada and Wellington will get together again but if the sequel is anything like its Soul Mates Dissipate I will not read it.
Rating: Summary: A Tad Unbelievable Review: This book was an interesting read, however I found it unrealistic and unbelivable and irritating at best. The two characters were imo not soul mates whatsoever. If ever I character I disliked in a book, it was this guy Wellington. Being written as all that, didn't convince me that he was. He wasn't! As for Jada I wondered, after the huge mistake she made, I wondered what kept her thinking about this man. It bothered me to read her confusion about this relationship. (...) I was disappointed in the woman she thought she needed to be, the one that thought Wellington was worth the time of day. (...)
Rating: Summary: Dissipate - "cause to diminish" Review: From the overall customer reviews, I expected to enjoy this novel like most. In all honesty, my appeal for the book continued to "dissipate" the more I continued to read. Understandably this is fiction but there was not enough depth for me to really appreciate this novel as a great read. First of all, I must say that it's good to see that Jada, the main character, has it "going on" in the corporate world as well as in the looks department. I just wish the author gave her a little bit more of a back bone to better handle some of that drama from her end of the spectrum. Granted, Jada has MORE than her fair share of characters to deal with. A new beau, Wellington with a less than scrupulous mother, Cynthia who has her own ideas for Wellington; not to mention her own deep dark secrets of a day gone by. With the help of Melanie, a woman from the "right family" that's right for Welligton, Cynthia plans to use her and anything it takes to keep Wellington from marrying Jada...someone Cynthia considers is not from the right background. The plots make you wanna pick up the book, curl up and read. And chile, Chapter 1...whew. But it's all downhill from there. The book seems to race through the main plot and 2 subplots and you really don't feel any substance or connection w/the characters. The author has some questions at the end for book club discussions which is an interesting addition. Also a section about finding your own soulmate, which again would need a whole lot more substance than what the book would suggest. The ending, however, gave me a feeling that the next book Ms. Morrison is working on, pt.2 will probably be better. Jada has moved on and Wellington is ready to show and prove. Now I'm waiting for that one.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book Review: I really enjoyed this book. I read alot of books, and I think this one measures up to some of the best. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: If only Amazon would let me give zero stars... Review: By the time I reached page 22, I had thrown this book down in disgust. Between the incredibly poor character development (including "soul mates" who can barely communicate with each other), the improbable (to be kind) plot, and not least of all, the random meaninglessly italicized phrases (starting on page 1 - "the cool 'fall' night breeze [???????]"), this was one of the dumbest, worst written books I have EVER encountered. This book was almost as bad, if not worse, than those by Rosalyn McMillan, which are incredibly similar, down to the unnecessarily raunchy sex scenes, which seem to pop up out of nowhere. Even though I reluctantly admit skimming through to the end to find out what happened, I beg you - PLEASE, don't waste a moment of your life or your hard earned money on this drivel. I'm surely sorry I did!!!
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: I had mixed emotions about reading this book - But I am so glad that I did. It was fantastic. The characters were so real and earthy. The plot was quite unique. I am glad that when I read it - the sequel was sitting on my nightstand waiting! Keep up the good work Ms. Morrison!
Rating: Summary: What a great read! Review: This was a really good book. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. Reading about the Jones'deep, dark family secrets added more to the story. Looking forward to reading Part 2.
Rating: Summary: HOT, SEXY, and LOTS OF DRAMA! Review: I don't know why this book got so many bad reviews, but I was captivated from the first page. Meet Jada a.k.a. Diamond. She is a very succesful photographer, has lot of money, she is very beautiful and men just seem to fall at her feet, but one thing is missing is her life, and that is a soulmate to share everything with. Then we are introduced to Wellington Jones, a bald-headed, sexy (...) man that could have his pick of women and then some, not to mention he is a millionare. From the first night that they meet, Wellington and Jada are both in love. Almost a year later, Jada is Wellington's fiancee and this is where things start to go downhill, Wellington's adoptive mom Cynthia will do anything to keep Wellington from marrying Jada, becuase she feels that JAda is not "good enough". I won't reveal anything else because I will spoil the reast of the surprises in the story. This book is a must READ,(...)
Rating: Summary: SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! Review: The was such a poorly witten book that I don't even know how or why it was published. The characters are shallow, sex crazed and just plain stupid! The author wasted vaulable text space with pointless descriptions like,"her long sexy chocolate thighs and her perfect 26 inch waist or his sexy chest and carmel skin." Ugh! give me a break already. This garbage went on and on and on and on...See what I mean? Also with all her designer name dropping I wonder if Gucci and Ray Bane paid to have her book published. You never learn how or why Jada and Wellington are "soulmates" and after the first couple of chapters I didn't care. They were everything you didn't want in a soulmate: selfish, shallow and stupid. In addition, I was expecting romance or even erotica not hardcore porno including a nasty three way. The sex scenes including the actual acts and the language that they used was very offensive to me. This book should be classed as porn or atleast hardcore erotica. Jada and Wellington didn't know the first thing about real love. They had no trust, no commitment and they didn't value themselves and certainly not each other. This was a very negative portrayal of an Afro-American couple. Wellington came off as the typical dog and Jada came of as just plain nasty. Together they came off as having no self control and pride. They were guided more by lust and sex rather than common sense. If this is an example of a National Best Seller than American fiction is really going down the gutter. If I could have I would have given this book a negative rating.
