Summary: Disappointing but not entirely
Review: I expected a lot from this book given the reviews. It was definitely a quick, enjoyable read but I found myself wanted more character development.

Who was Jane Rosenal? What made her tick? There were brief hints and clues but nothing substantive.

Summary: i loved it
Review: well, im only 14 so i dont have any big words or exiting adjectives to use to describe this book. but i thought it was really good,it kept me entertained at the beach (although i was finished the 3rd day there) and it was really wonderful how the stories were so real. her characters had feelings and she described them so well. i cant wait for more from her.

Summary: A fabulous look at today's woman and directions in literatur
Review: Like the aims of many late twentieth century writers, Bank has eloquently sought to reconcile the modernism (encapsulated by Forester's Howard's End: "everything connect") with the post-modernism. Is this hybrid she maintains the new direction of literature? And her Jane Rosenal is hilarious and endearing; she is the kind of character women want to be and yet are afraid to admit to. We do not want to define ourselves in relation to men, yet our relationships with men often define our lives. In the end, each individual woman must define what is right for her.

Summary: A well-rounded read
Review: While I was expecting this book to be much more lighthearted and funny, I was not disappointed in its presentation. I felt there was a deeper understanding and empathy since this woman could be any one of us. I also enjoyed how, unlike many books today, this was not centered on her desire to find HIM. It showed her career, health and family. And most important, 'So you have him, but do you want to keep him?'

Summary: Must read for all
Review: I am 17 and I admit, I hate to read. It's a waste of time. But when I found the excellent rating review of this book in Seventeen Magazine I had to get it. So I borrowed it from the library and what can I say, my other books are currently on hold due to this fasinating book. Ms.Bank knows how to captivate her readers into not putting this novel down. It keeps me coming back, and before the due date is over, I will be done this book. It's a must read for all.

Summary: spunky heroines
Review: ...and we need them spunkier yet. Jane has a liveliness about her but somehow women writers always seem to get bogged down --- or their main characters do --- toward the end. Nothing much is at stake. I wasn't too dissapointed, but like another reviewer I would recommend 'My Date With Satan'and 'A Manual Of Etiquette For Ladies Crossing Canada By Train' which has a nervy heroine on the run on the Canadian transcontinental, handsome detective, etc. almost a spoof. Also 'Alaska Highway Two-Step' a young woman psychic and her dog divining mysteries in the far north.

Summary: Excellent! Refreshing! Innovative! I LOVED IT!!!
Review: This book touched both my heart and my funny bone, often both at the same time. I loved the style and wit! My absolute favorite was the last chapter. I think it should be required reading for any woman who has, or is thinking about reading "The Rules." It's like deprogramming. Any woman who is looking for love and not finding luck is a prime target for that horrible book which plays on and magnifies womens fears and insecurities.

Recently a friend I highly respect reccomended that I read a new book about finding a great relationship that takes an honest approach that respects both men and women called Master Dating: How to Meet and Attract quality Men. I was reading both books in the same week and thanks to them both I have succesfully navigated the potential pitfalls of romance. I am now in the heathiest, most wonderful relationship of my life. The relationship of my dreams. It was like a perfect one-two punch! Thanks to both fabulous authors for saving my sanity and making me think, laugh, cry and grow. If you're having a hard time with romance, read both books. When is the next book coming out?

Summary: All hype, no substance, cute cover
Review: This book was such as disappointment. The only thing that kept me reading was the hope that it would eventually get better. I found it annoying that Jane, the supposed savvy career woman, tried to validate herself by dating/living with, breaking up with, and then getting back together with this guy twice her age and who is also an alcoholic. I found the fact that she did not state where she worked calling it "H---" annoying. For God's sake, make up a publishing company name. The only likeable character in the book is her father's. Everyone else is either weak or stupid. Save your money, buy a better book.

Summary: Great!
Review: Witty and fresh, 'Hunting and Fishing is a quick read (under 24 hours!) and well worth it. Laugh out loud funny, sentimental and human. 5 stars, no less. And stop comparing it to Bridget Jones--this book succeeds on its own merits.

Summary: Truthful yet strange
Review: I read this book in about 8 hours. I thought it was extreemly funny in a dark sense but one chapter titled "It could be you" was a bit strange. Lacks some depth, but gives some insights into modern day relationships. Unfortunately that insight is not the best for our culture. :)
