Summary: Only Read when you have LOTS of time to spare
Review: I just finished reading this book today and let me tell you the truth: If I had not been on my summer vacation, I doubt that I would have finished it so quickly. In the case of most romance novels, they are P-A-G-E-T-U-R-N-E-R-S, NOT this one! The book has thirty-one chapters, and the two main characters don't even admit to themselves that they are slightly attracted to each other until chapter sixteen! After this, they have to approach each other and start sharing flirtatious moments;this doesn't occur until around chapter twenty-one! For the most part,Captain Devlin and Pascale spend the book hating each other and arguing (even after admitting to themselves that an attraction exists!) The reviewer before me was correct when she said that this book doesn't offer an escape from everyday life. Usually, when you read books like this, you find yourself enthralled in a "fantasy World". This is not the case with this book. It offers little escape from everyday life. However, you do have to give the author credit for building up to a wonderful climax, which by the way, doesn't begin until around chapter twenty-three. Once the book starts to get exciting at that point, you won't put it down. That is of course, if you have the patience to get to these chapters. The book does offer a happy ending as always, and the tidbits of history that are taught throughout the book are educational but, are not very interesting and can be confusing if yoy know little about the Napoleanic Era.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Not her best outing.
Review: When we read romance, we are most often seeking fantasy and a departure from the day-to-day. Don't we deserve to have it well written, too?
