Rating: Summary: Good, Honest story Review: A little rough around the edges, but it means well. The main character goes through peaks and valleys of life before he lands a friendship with a fellow female employee. Once this occurs, the story becomes interesting. From there he must fight his back stabbing friends, manipulative employees, and ghosts from his past. As this happens, the authour's wity dialogue and honest approach makes it seem like this could happen to anybody. There are plenty of characters for readers to relate to, and in the end they come together. Good thing is, the book makes sense. Any questions that were left hanging one hundred pages in, are answered by the close. I was impressed, but not thoroughly. It certainly needs some narrative work and editing touch-ups, but once that clears, you have a good-hearted story. Recommend it for anybody in their early twenties, or wanting to reflect on their early adulthood.
Rating: Summary: Why writer when there is nothing to say Review: AS an individual who has made some decent money writing professionally, I cannot stand self publishing vanity presses! Thanks to pay-to-publish houses we have seen unreadable book after unreadable book from writers who didn't even seem to bother to try and go the professional route. The worst part of this type of publishing is that there are no editors to tell you your book has no story. The pretentiously named "Road to the Heart," can now be thrown in this heap. With such a title the reader expects emotion and a fresh look at the human condition. What we have here is a poorly written book about one-dimensional characters that we don't care about. I have to agree with on of the reviews, which wonders how anyone, (outside the author's family),can give the book 1 star let alone 4. Please, no more vanity publishing!
Rating: Summary: a chance to relive high school Review: I believe that this was a great chance to fall back into the teen dilemas that we knew in high school. It you take the time to get into the book you can relate the characters to people you know and the story becomes a "real life" episode.
Rating: Summary: Terrible Review: I read this book as a favor to a friend. I was left with this thought: Just because you can write enough pages to fill what would nomally constitute a book, does not mean that it is ready for sale to the general public, or to special needs readers.(Although it looks like one might have painted the cover after the meds kicked in.) But seriosuly, perhaps this tomb could be snatched up by college writing programs as final exams for copyediting/proofreadoiing classes. It would have to be a take home test though. The english language is mangled here worse than a Chinese take-out menu. This book has the subtelty of an afterschool special, written by someone with a grudge on their shoulder and an 8th grade education. The world ain't fair, get over it. If this book exorcised enough demons to prevent a senseless murder, it has done its job though. I should have been paid 18.95 to read this book.
Rating: Summary: bad and then some..... Review: If you thought the Teen Valley High series was bad, wait until you read this. Told in a primitive level, seemingly aimed at 7th graders, the author offers little or no insight to the human condition at any level. The writing bogs down with cliches, repetitve form and almost complete lack of substance. Try reading A Seperate Peace if you want a book about life during the teen years. Stay away from this book however, unless you enjoy clumsy sentence structure and points repeated over and over. How anyone can give this book 4 stars is beyond me.
Rating: Summary: Terrible Review: Young people will have an outside perspective of what goes on in their lives. Older readers, such as myself, gain clarity on what the heck happened when our hormones were bouncing everywhere during the high school years. I could relate to many of the characters experience even today. The emotions are real. The actions and reations to everyday occurences reveal simple and complex aspects of human nature. If you're like me you'll want to analyze the characters with the author himself. However, you'll also want to take out a red pen and correct some of the grammatical mishaps as well. Either way, you're sure to have an opinion of your own. Here's to the road to finding a true love of your own and to the certain pitfalls that will happen before you do.
