Review: This book is part of a series of books that combines western expansion with a Native American perspective. Any history or light romance buff would enjoy this book and the rest of the series.

Summary: Rugged outdoor action, rich with Indian and frontier lore.
Review: White man, Ross Chesnut, after eighteen years separation, answers the call to 1850s Dakota Territory to try and save the Yanktonai Indians who raised him. Chesnut is an excellent, very human character as he deals with old enemies, sad memories, new hope and love. This is a gritty and at the same time poignant story that triumphs at the end.
