Summary: Attila
Review: Attila is a story about a young emigrant and his trials in coming from Hungary to America. This was an amusing love story with a comical edge. I enjoyed it very much; the writing was excellent because of the descriptions. Attila goes through many trials with family and the new environment. I would highly recommend this book, especially for young adults who can relate to his struggles in growing up.

Summary: A MUST READ
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Attila" because I found it quite amazing to see the kind of life Peter Hargitai lived. While reading this novel I was then able to understandthe author's actions and thoughts. I liked how he created this story about his life experiences as a child which, to me, makes the book interesting. His style of writing was also intriguing. Not only the style of writing used but the depth he goes. I also commend Mr. Hargitai on sharing these painful andsuffering events which occurred during his life as a child. During the scenes in this novel the reader can bring realism to the setting and character. In doing so, he portrays the depth he goes throughout the book. After reading the book I became very much intrigued. Some novels seek to entertain, others to paint a place or a time, or to portray our humanity in times of crises, but in the case of Hargitai, "Attila" strikes me most definitely as an entertaining book but also a bit different. There are no words to explain the feeling I gt after reading this novel.

Summary: A Book to Own
Review: For the last two years and a half, I have tortured myself thinking that life sucks, that it isn't fair, and that there isn't any room for my crazy dreams and me in this world. At one point of my life I even got to believe that God hated me, because I was getting exactly the opposite of whatever I asked him. But after reading the book ATTILA, I realized that there are people who have suffered as much or even more than me, and that crying and weeping for the things that I have lost, is useless. I also discovered that the change that I suffered for leaving my country (Colombia) was nothing compared to what Attila (Peter Hargitai) had to go trough, and that, helped me to see life in a different way.
In general terms, I loved the novel. It is brilliant, fun and easy to read, and I think that its content is very useful for anybody, like me, who is facing a new life in a different culture.

Summary: Barbaric Indeed
Review: If you're looking for a great, out of the ordinary love story I can recommend Attila: A Barbarian's Love Story. It's a downright novel about a man whose childhood to adulthood would be found so bizarre in today's society. The setting, the culture, the language, and the characters all together create a story image board of a child's life in the 1950's. The story began in Hungary with a typical situation for the inhabitants at the time, war and people fleeing to save their lives.

Attila's adventures were both dramatizing and exciting. He grew up around a dysfunctional family and group of peers. His best friend and brother, Janos, was his everyday thought. This boy, Attila, truly went through a mass of drama and conflicts. It's really amazing to know that someone can actually survive all the distraught images he had seen. Towards the end he falls in love with a women named, Millie. Their love was so rare and eccentric. In completion of the novel I can say it was a great success for Peter Hargitai.

Summary: Attila
Review: Attila A Barbarian's Love Story taught me something that I had long forgot, and that is the ability to just live, learn, and leave self-consciousness and my self-image up to me and no one else. In the novel, the adolescent character Attila has to go through many of life's obstacles some more severe than others. The great thing about the character that I can relate to is his ability to just say forget everyone else I'm the important one and my life comes before everyone else. He was always in the shadows of his older brother Janos and that was something that I could easily relate with. Besides being in his brother shadow he, escapes with his family from Hungary during the Hungarian Revolution and then through his parents' attempts at keeping him from becoming "American" all while trying to find out his true identity.

Summary: intense love story
Review: An appealing love story of a teenager who falls deeply in love with a girl that was forbidden to be with him. An intense story from the beginning to end. It honestly kept my heart pounding fast as I was reading through the final chapters. It reminds you of when your parents try to take over your life and one day you just snap and begin to take over it yourself. It leaves a piece of advice to just be who you really are and not who your parents want you to be. Peter Hargitai has once again created a success story that reaches everyone's heart.

Summary: Two Thumbs Up
Review: I thouroughly enjoyed this book. I didn't think that there was one dull moment. It's a very touching story about a boys journey through life and love. Escaping Hungary and growing up through tough times with his family in a foreign land. It's very easy to relate with some of the characters, it kept me spellbound from beginning to end. I recommend this to mature readers, I know you'll love it.

Summary: A Barbarian's Love Story
Review: Irony, agony, and love are the major elements in Peter Hargitai's novel, Atilla: A Barbarian's Love Story. Atilla's struggle to free himself from the shackles of the past customs is an emotional rollercoaster. His post-modern fiction would be appreciated by generations who find themselves agonized by people's rejections of the joining of multicultural societies. Some may criticize the novel for the ordinary love story, however, it's what makes it worthy to read. Peter Hargitai was anything but close-minded about the current "melting pot" in America, and this is what the world needs. Even if the beginning may not be in sync with the rest of the book, it's a nice sense of Hungarian history. Despite some technical errors, the overall jist of the novel is enjoyable.

Summary: Attila: A Barbarian's Love Story
Review: Attila has to be one of the best love stories I have read. In the beginning of the novel Attila and his family are trying to survive the Hungarian Revolution and escape Hungary. Towards the middle of the novel when Attila arrives to the United States he attempts to live a normal life and adapt to this new way of living while keeping his parents content. This was not an easy task for Attila due to the fact that they were strong believers of the Hungarian way of life. During all this he falls in love with a young lady named Millie and the novel turns into an incredible love story. Going through such a tough child hood, Attila was not a very loving man and did a lot of obtuse things while in this relationship, but their love for each other continued. Peter Hargatai did an amazing job describing the struggles and misery that he went through, as well as the love he had for Millie. Hargitai even adds a little humor in the novel which keeps you interested. I would recommend this book to everyone, it's an astonishing novel.

Summary: Touching story of a boy's journey through life
Review: Attila: A Barbarians Love Story", is a remarkable book about a young adolescents journey through life. This book is a great read for teenagers and young adults because you find yourself relating to the main character, Attila, who is experiencing some of the hardships of growing up. While reading this book, you can almost see it as a movie being played out on the big screen. It is a fabulously written piece that touches on every subject imaginable such as sexuality, puberty, first love, a dysfunctional family, etc. Parts of this book will make you bust a gut laughing, and others will leave you in tears. This book is by far one of the best reads of my young life, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to read a timeless novel, as well as discover an utterly brilliant author.
