Summary: Always on your toes...
Review: It didn't take long to realize there were a lot of underlying things going on in this book. I was caught up, not only in the written words, but the unwritten, underlying ones as well.

It's a very possible - "could happen to anyone" plot and story line. Shows the pleasant and unpleasant side of human nature and occurances. Has a fresh and unusual twist to take us away from the same old plots and finishes.

Couln't put it down because around each page and corner was something new to test the imagination and tease the brain. Overall, I enjoyed the book, its' plot, and the masterful way it was written to keep things moving and interesting. Hope there's another Vic Peters book in the near future. I'm sure I'm not the only one who will be watching for it.

Summary: Wonder Wonderful Read!
Review: It's funny... I looked at the review that someone had put in before me and the title is something like "read it twice"? It's Ironic that I am doing exactly that. I first read it about three months ago and now find myself at it again. I don't normally read a book twice in such a short time span but after I read it I passed it on to my wife who found quite a few hidden anagrams and messages. My curiosity has me back at it and enjoying every page as much if not more than the first time around. I highly recommend anyone reading and enjoying this book. A great new book from a great new author.

Summary: You need to read this more than once!
Review: Mary's field is a complex book that has things happening on a number of levels. When I read it a second time many of the more subtle story elements fell into place. The book poses many of the same questions so many people have about man's relationship with a supposedly benevloent God, and does a nice job of weaving the main character's discovery of some explanations throughout the story.
The characters are very real, and will remind you of someone you know in your own life. There are a couple of places I got the impression there was something I wasn't getting, but the books website by the same name explains how to unravel some clever puzzles that are secondary to the story, but fun to solve once you know they're there.
The books cover asks "If you were going to pick a fight with God, what form would it take?". The fight is a little lopsided with the main character reeling more than fighting for most of the book, but it all comes to a satisfying conclusion.
Mary's Field asks many more questions than it answers, and that's a good thing. It will stimulate you to see your everyday relationships in a new light. You'll want your friends to read it, if for no other reason than to have someone else to discuss the book with.

Summary: A promising first novel
Review: Mary's Field is a promising first novel, but Peters still has room to grow as a writer. I look forward to reading his next books.

He seems to have an uncanny way of helping readers connect to the spiritual, and I read Mary's Field more than once, couldn't resist. It made me sit up and take notice, some of the passages sinking deep into my bones. This is a book that challenges readers to dig for deeper messages, look for red flags, take time, ask questions, think, listen.

Perhaps, by doing so, readers better understand the light sent to Jim - and to the rest of us.

Summary: Mary's Field
Review: Reading about someone else's struggle with this thing we call life can help us view our own life. Struggling day to day and at times wondering if it is all worth it. But just hanging in there eventually you come to a turning point in life where it can make all the difference in the future.
I love the way that Vic writes. His use of language makes this story seem so real. If your struggling with hard things in life this book might help you figure things out.

Summary: This is an Excellent read.
Review: This book is an excellent read. Mr. Peters tells a good story, the conversation is real and easy to follow.

The theme of the book is very thought provoking, despite a couple distracting side tracks that don't contribute to the story line.

I will buy more offerings from Mr. Peters.

Summary: deep thought
Review: Vic Peters takes us on the definitive "ride" along the many paths of Life's sometimes "dark journey." The reader never knows, in the beginning, exactly which path -- past, present or future -- they are on and how they will all intersect.

I have my own "War with God" and have taken it to Him on many occasions, some being quite vocal!

Vic has given me new perspectives and new strengths. I thank him for that.

Summary: Mary's Field
Review: Vic succeeded in maintaining my interest even though I do not like flashbacks. His unique ability to enter his past years with the thought of "doing things differntly" to effect future negative events in his life, is interesting and capturing. Who hasn't fantasied about this very thing - "What if?" The book handles a common fantasy in an extraordinary way.
