Summary: Mary's Field
Review: A great book! Witty and intelligently written. I read it twice to catch all the subtleties contained within the text. This is apparently the authors first novel, but the contents reflect a more experienced author. I am looking forward to the next book.

Review: An excellent read that kept me flipping back and forth through the pages and scratching my head. Vic brings to life the unknown thoughts we all have about the other side and what it could be like to see the light. Mary's Field has several deep messages for the reader to discover and an awesome philosophy of life in general. "Oh...Did you write the book of love?" ...In this case, Mr. Peter's did.

Summary: Yes, read it a second time...
Review: I agree with the review by Gary Macy. I, too, read the book a second time.

The first time I read it I was caught up in the story of Jim Benson, his struggles, and search for the "true meaning of life". Jim is a character many will be able to relate to, especially in the beginning of the book. Jim is a regular guy, with a regular job, a good marriage, friends, living the same life many of us are living right now. In an instant, all that he knows will change. The resulting test of his character pulls the reader along, wanting to see Jim pull out of his situation and back into some semblance of the life he once had. I couldn't put the book down until I found out if Jim would be able to find his way back!

The second time I read the book was for fun. The word play in the book, anagrams and other "coincidences" were as absorbing as the story itself. This is like buying two books for the price of one, the absorbing story of man's struggle with his maker, and one with more than enough intellectual word play. My family finally asked me to contact the author for answers because I was so caught up in it!

You will enjoy this book, and the characters. The people I have loaned it to have all said they, too, couldn't put it down! We are waiting for more from this author. Thank you, Mr. Peters, for writing Mary's Field.

Summary: A promising first novel
Review: I felt the premise of the book was that Jim blamed God for his misfortune, instead of looking to his own strength and resources. The Angels that he encountered during his near death experience were all trying to tell him that life will never be perfect, even if we did have the chance to go back and start over. Life is what you make of it, mentally or phyically. God has already given us what we need, what we do with it is up to us. I think it would make a great movie.

Summary: deep thought
Review: I throughly enjoyed this author's writing style as he gave you more to think about than the plot alone. Very clever. I also belive the concept of living a "fanatasy life", one you wish for with all your being, could only come true in the sense Vic Peters portrays here. It couldn't be all it's dreamt to be. Human beings are dealt certain cards and it's our decisions and how we react to those things that define our lives.

Summary: Excellent
Review: I wasn't really sure what to expect when I picked up a copy of Mary's Field. I was immediately swept into the story of the main character, Jim , and had a hard time putting this novel down. What was especially intriguing was the play on words and secrets writer Vic Peters thoughtfully placed into his novel. Quirky humor (right from the beginning)and a truly original story make this book one of the greatest that I have ever read. I would highly recommend this novel to anyone.

Summary: Incredible critical thinking process
Review: If we could all just reflect and talk to ourselves and question the way Jim does. Jim could be a real person and his trials and disappointments are a good example of what can happen in true life.

And I enjoyed the irreverent sense of humor that is injected into the book.

Great book!
