Rating: Summary: If YOU could only DREAM!! Review: After reading both Candy and Candy 2; which are not children's books, (due to sex scenes, which are very clearly stated before you order the books) I have to congratulate Mrs. Robichaud on her success. Both books take you away from all the day to day stress in your life and DREAM of a romance that may never happen in YOUR lifetime! To be happy and in love that is what it is all about, a TRUE love story with action and suspense, of course pure FICTION! I can see that Mrs. Robichaud is a very proud and happily married wife and mother who is not afraid to conquer her dreams, at the same time to teach her children not to give up and to reach for the stars! THAT is a very important job for a mom to teach her children. (as well as to learn to ignore the ignorant for THEY do not know what THEY are talking about.) Since I am the average working mom and not a professional review writer or author, I would have to rate both books the highest rating. If Mrs. Robichaud takes advise from her readers, (which I am sure she does) I do have a suggestion for a new book too..Entitled "How not to be a professional stick in the mud?" What do you think Janeen? Love you...Keep writing!
Rating: Summary: HOW WORSE CAN A BOOK BE? Review: For years, I have been asked by colleagues and friends to write reviews or forewords for their work. I must say that, in most cases, the books were either about science, medicine, art, or very well written literature. I never thought I would write such a bad review, but then again, never in my wildest dreams would have imagined that I would read a book such as Candy (and Candy2, which is available for "preview" at iUniverse).
I was asked to go preview the 2 books by a friend, actually in the US for her sabbatical, who had read them and was astonished by their contents. She refused to tell me why, as she wanted my untarnished opinion. After reading Candy and Candy2, I understand her repulsion for what is nothing but a conglomerate of very graphic sex scenes one cannot describe otherwise than pornographic.
To top it all, the characters are badly defined, the situations contradictory and the amount of tragedies hitting the beings involved in the plot (note that I haven't said human beings, as they don't deserve the appellation of human, considering their bestiality and deviance) would earn any of those characters the title of THE UNLUCKIEST PERSON ALIVE, if there were such a title. There is no plausibility whatsoever in this mumble jumble of sex scenes and catastrophes, written with an incredible lack of imagination. Ms. Robichaud uses the same words over and over for her overly graphic descriptions (I apologize to the reader, but due to the crude language involved, I can't use any of her vocabulary in this review).
Ms. Robichaud is supposedly a "very happily married woman", at least, it is what she says, and apparently the mother of 2 children, a teenager and preteen. Well, Ms. Robichaud, I wonder if you will ever be proud of showing your novels to your children?
I am not a prude, to the contrary. As a psychiatrist, I have been exposed to the very ugly side of life recounted by my patients, but yours is the filthiest and ugliest I have been unprivileged to hear about. The books are also full of spelling mistakes, misuses of words, like using than instead of then (than is a comparison, you have more time THAN talent. Then is time related, I was reading your books, then I understood what bad literature was), and the situation of the characters changes from page to page, when Candy meets Johnny, he is supposedly "an artist", lives in a trailer in a far from town trailer park, but he suddenly becomes a car salesman, with money stashed away, can afford a Honey Moon in the Caribbean, a splendid ring, and new car for Candy; the other inconsistencies would be too long to list here.
To give the reader a digest of my review, here it is: if you do like pornography, this is for you, but if you want a well written story which can be read by the whole family, just a word of advice, DON'T BOTHER.I have given the book 1*, as it is the lowest rating allowed, but a minus would be more like what I would have granted otherwise.
Rating: Summary: It's imagination.........try it!! Review: How awful it would be if I were so serious that I couldn't enjoy the torrid tales of Candy....I've read the first one and as soon as I have the chance, I'm going to buy the second one. Not because I am so sort of silly glutton for punishment, but because the racy sex scenes (which aren't real) are enjoyable. I think that Mrs. Robichaud (aka a truly happily married woman and a GREAT mom who gives all of her "spare" time to her incredible children) should write a new book. I've already suggested a title to her; "How to help the Professional remove the pole from his Arse". I think it has a great ring to it. No doubt Mrs. Robichaud will add some lovely twists to this tale! :0
Rating: Summary: ''A let down....'' Review: I've never read this author before, but she needs to learn about proper grammer, tenses, & spelling ! Yes, the book sort of holds your interest, but it was advertised as having alot of violent sex.....WHERE? She just sort of has her characters jump around & though her story line was good, she needs MUCH improvement. I was very angry that I spent alot on this book & the author's not ready to be published.
Rating: Summary: Suspense! Intrigue! Surprises! Happy Endings! Review: If you enjoy all of these elements in your books, then you'll enjoy Candy. Can anyone cope with as many problems as Candy is faced with? Is there really a man as wonderful and understanding as Johnny Knight? And can any human being be as horrible as JD Cooper? Find out for yourself. Read Candy. You'll love. You'll hate. You'll cry. And you'll be glad you read the book. It's a story you won't soon forget. Then, be sure and read the sequel, Candy2.

Rating: Summary: A most exciting and earthy work..a book for the real world Review: The Title Candy is very apt as the title for this marvelously erotic work. It is fattening, once you start reading you may find it hard to put it down. If it were indeed candy and the turning of pages were tantamount to eating I would have gained much weight indeed with this book! Ms. Robichaud exibits an earthy talent combined with the rare skill of winding a good tale to it's conclusion with out a lot of wasted words and effort that some writer's believe is nessessary. The number of pages in a book and how many tangents or the amount of flowery prose is not as important as the story itself and I am happy that Ms. Robichaud is not afflicted with that particular disease. When I read a book it is not to put me to sleep. Candy had no such ill affects. It is a book that a reader will enjoy coming back to (no pun intended)again and again.
Rating: Summary: Grabs your attention from the very beginning! Review: When I started reading Candy, it captured my attention right from the start. I just couldn't put it down, it was good from beginning to end. Poor Candy to have to go through that, but I'm certainly glad she found Johnny Knight. What a man he is! I'm in love!
