Review: wow. anne hodgson's premiere novel arrives with a bang and leaves the reader salivating for more. the characters are complex and well-presented, and the storyline is plausible yet unpredictable. the reader is drawn to the heroine, whose innocence and honesty are well-tempered with unmatched strength of character and conviction. i found myself alternately laughing and crying, but always cheering for the beautiful Brianda as she searched for the meaning of love, loss and new beginnings. a definite 'pick-me-up' for readers who have lost their faith in the power of love and perserverance in a world that's not always fair. five stars!
