Rating: Summary: Hard to keep attention on story Review: I have read hundreds, perhaps thousands of romance novels. I have never had such a hard time reading a novel due to typographical errors and simply bad grammar. Where was the editorial control for this novel? The story was acceptable, but the dialogue was stilted. There was no examination of the characters' motivations or evolution towards intimacy. This novel needed a lot more editorial work before it was placed before the reading public.
Rating: Summary: Chills, Thrills and Tears Review: I love a good Love Story, Three Moons Rising is just that, plus more. Science Fiction and Fantasy too. Bad aliens that try to take over Earth but are thawarted by Emperor At'r when he saves Izadra his future wife, she doesn't believe him but she is so attracted to him it scares her silly. He lusts after her but won't admit to love. Their relationship is a battle of pride against their love that draws them both together and both fighting the evil that threatens their lives. It was great to read this book it kept me hanging on till the end, I didn't want to put it down, so I didn't until I finished it. Then I read it again. This one I keep!!! I am sure I will read it over many times. Pat.
Rating: Summary: What's up with this book?? Review: I love science fiction, fantasy, and futuristic romance books, and so decided to try this because of the rave reviews.Don't waste your money, folks. As many people have already said, it has some major editing problems -- not just in spelling, grammar, and commas, either. The characters are very poorly developed and the story just doesn't mesh together. The hero is dastardly and the heroine is...indescribably wishy-washy. I recommend the author have her next book edited by a professional and go from there.
Rating: Summary: It sounded like a good idea at the time! Review: I purchased THREE MOONS RISING after reading the summaries shown above, thinking it sounded like a good story idea, and deciding that emerging writers need a chance too. I am sorry to say that I think that this effort needed to be worked on a little more before it was published. Early on in the work, I was amazed by the number of typos and errors - obviously this was spell-checked, but not proof-read. Example: Catherine was amazed at his 'viral' figure. What, he is the size of the flu virus? And there definitely is a difference between 'to bear children' (giving birth) and 'to bare children' (stripping them naked). Not to mention the difference between 'losing yourself' and 'loosing yourself'. Once I got past those issues, I stumbled on another big problem - apparently date rape is OK in this writer's world, since every 'love scene' in the first half of the book clearly states that A'tr is keeping Catherine/Izadra prisoner, and forcing himself on regardless of her lack of interest. Then she falls in love with the jerk? What is this, Stockholm Syndrome? The story concept, as I said before, is excellent, but I have a big problem with the execution.
Rating: Summary: Reviewing the Reviewers?? Review: I thought this was a forum to review BOOKS, not the REVIEWERS?? Apparently this site for THREE MOONS RISING is deserving of reviewer harassment every time a negative review is posted of this book. Wake up people -- stop negating the reviewers -- everyone is entitled to their own opinion, whether they like this book, or not.
Rating: Summary: Was there an editor??? I think this was a rough draft. Review: If there was a no-star rating, this book would have gotten it. I bought this book after reading other reviews.. and this was not an inexpensive book .... The first clue as to how things were going to be was on the fly cover.. a glaring typo,"Forced into marriage, Izadra defies him by refusing to consummate their union telepathically but neither can deny their BUNING physical desire for the other". Unfortunately, this typo was the first of multiple. For example, page 97 "I gave very explicate orders that this was to be avoided, I do not wish to up-set Her Highness any further" I have never written a book, and I know this was Ms. Eskew's baby. The premise was good. Long lost royal heir rediscovered to help reunite the people of a planet... But the prose. I am sure that every sentence had at least 3-4 commas. And it just didn't flow. Another example, page 96 "He was omnipotent over his willing subjects and over a much less willing Izadra, radiantly she could feel his will draining her own." At'r, our hero comes across as spoiled and immature. Izadra, our heroine doesn't seem to think, and midstream becomes a doormat. The love scenes are extremely heavy handed, and I can understand why some reviewers feel that the scenes are almost like forced, initially nonconsentual sex. I read the whole book even though I had determined that this really wasn't a keeper. I really thought after the other reviews it had to get better. It didn't. The Diamerald tower is a mystery crucial to Izadra's personal evolution... she goes there, it transforms, changes her somehow, AND WE NEVER KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. Very disappointing. The book is about 400 pages; a good editor would have whittled this down to about 250 pages, knocked out the rambling prose, fixed the typo's (another favorite, heal for heel) and helped give this book a little more direction. If you can look beyond paying a premium price for an obvious first effort, go for it. Otherwise, a favorite word in the book is 'contemplate'.
Please do not contemplate reading this book.
Rating: Summary: Author's Review Review: In the interest of a fair review I have to respond, after a two year period of being SPAMED by the same person(s)who have repeatedly left similar poor reviews on this book as a personal attack against me, the author. If an interested buyer will check out ALL the reviews you will find that Harriett Klausner,a noted well known romance reviewer and Pamella Waller another well known author have given this book excellent ratings. The Romance Studio have given it a four hearts review if you care to check their e-addy is www.theromancestudio.com. Yes Three Moons Rising is my first book and yes it was writen by a novice writer. However it is an excellent read as attested by many other reviewers. For more information please see my web site at www.sqpens.com before you buy. At this site you will also find out about up coming sequels to this continuing story. Again not all the negative reviews are by these individuals, you can't please everyone - however month after month when the same people write under different fake names there comes a time when I simply must stand up and make it known. Please visit my web site and read all the reviews before you decide from the few who have made it their life's work to keep this wonderful love story down.
Rating: Summary: tremendous romantic fantasy Review: Planet Creason ruler Emperor At'r defeats his enemies the Zerions, rescuing earthling Izadra, who possesses the long lost Creasion Royal Necklace. At'r recognizes the necklace as the symbol of fulfilling a key prophecy of the ancestors who claim the vanished Empress will one day return. He tells her she is to be his wife, but Izadra rejects his words as nonsense though she is quite attracted to him. They marry and physically mate, but she refuses to share a telepathic bond with him. They journey to his home with Izadra frightened as much by her feelings as she is by his power. Duty comes first to At'r so he hides his love for his new wife from himself for fear that will weaken his rule. On Creasion, a cult led by the evil Priestess Ba-lyn endangers Izadra and the child she carries unless she and At'r can learn to trust one another starting with telepathy. THREE MOONS RISING is a tremendous romantic fantasy that will elate fans from both genres and cause a flurry of action to find more works by Sheila N. Eskew. The story line is loaded with action, but insures the key cast members seem three-dimensional so that alien races appear authentic. The romantic subplot is a delight leading to a fulfilling time for those who appreciate a well-written love story that transcends the stars. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: I couldn't stop laughing! Review: The only good thing about this book is the title! I've never read anything written so strangely before. The beginning is just bizarre in its whole tone, and it pretty much continues on that way during the rest of the book. Actually, I thought it was quite comical - except for the so-called "love" scenes. Romantic? NOT. If you're looking for a good laugh, be sure to read it. But get it at the library if you can. I wouldn't buy it!
Rating: Summary: Well Worth The Read! Review: This book dazzled my heart and brain. What a breathtaking adventure to read. Once in a while a person comes across a book that totally captures the true meaning of love and passion. Three Moons Rising did this for me. You want action? Read it. You want romance? Read it. You won't be disappointed. I can't wait for this author's next book. I know it will be well worth every penny to buy it. This is a 5 star book!
