Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Read! Review: I couldn't put it down. This book has a razor sharp edge that will keep you turning the pages. It is well put together. One won't be disappointed after reading this book.
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Book! Review: I was truly surprised at how the characters came alive in my mind as I read this book. So much action kept me from wanting to put it down. This author has a gift of making one believe that they are right there with the characters. I wanted to laugh when they did, cry when they did, and scream when they would make a wrong choice.
Rating: Summary: A pleasant surprise Review: This isn't the kind of book I would normally read, but I was pleasantly surprised by how engaging I found it after becoming drawn-in by the elegant and economical writing-style of the first few pages. There is no padding in this story, you are right in there and moving forward at a steady pace from Page One. In the foreground is the emerging love affair between Roger and Linda, which we see largely from Linda's point of view, with occasional dips into the minds of the other characters. Providing the foil is the (unintentional) killing of one of Roger's employees in a jealous arson attack orchestrated by his former girlfriend, the discovery by Linda of a half sister that she never knew she had, her younger brother's Graduation Day, and the general progression of events in both the central characters' lives. The real core of the story is Linda's coming to terms with the idea of becoming somebody's wife, with all the negative connotations that this role carries for her as a result of observing her own parents' relationship. The occasional meetings between Linda and Roger, with the moments of passion and sexual ecstasy that they afford, are not enough, it seems for Roger, although Linda's unease about commitment leads to her insistence on keeping the relationship at this level. Roger wants marriage with all that it implies, and has to win her over, employing tactics that seem at times harsh, but which eventually break-down Linda's defences. One point of interest for me as a man is the insight the novel provides into affairs of the heart and the loins seen through the eyes of a woman. Linda is a strong, efficient and self-assured person, able to look after herself and her younger brother following the death of their parents and to run a successful business, but, somewhat confounding expectations, her taste does not run to the soft, caring-sharing figure of the "new man". Roger is another go-getter, rich, self-sufficient, assertive, even domineering in many respects. Physically he is tall, elegant and athletic. Something of a playboy before he became obsessed by Linda, as soon as he falls for her his adherence to the rules of monogamy become impeccable. Oh dear! If this is what women want I must have been such a disappointment on so many occasions! The strength of the piece is that you actually come to like the central characters and to care when they seem to be hurting one another, and find yourself wanting to offer advice when you can see that they are getting it wrong. Even if, like me, your initial reaction to this kind of book is that it isn't really for you, give it a chance. You may be pleasantly surprised too!
Rating: Summary: A magificent fantasy Review: TREASURE MY HEART is a magnificent fantasy, which any good romance novel should be. The best romance novel I've read by far! I recommend it to all readers of the genre.
