Rating: Summary: When The Moon Comes Over the Mountain Review: This book combines an interesting and unpredictable love story with relevant social issues that have both current and future impact on our lives. The main characters in the book are tested as they struggle to support a World Federation. I usually read only non-fiction, but found satisfaction in this fictional account that raises real-life questions about the world power structure. While these days, "world peace" seems like nothing more than a rehearsed response by a beauty pagent contestant, author P.G. Redstone breaks down the task in bits of personal, individual responsibility and commitiment.I gave this book "5 stars" because it took me places that I've never been before, both geographically and philosophically. This book would be an excellent choice to read if you are a member of a book club. The topics for discussion that it presents are many. It offers no simple solutions to individual or global enlightenment, but provides the tools needed to continue the journey.
Rating: Summary: A great romance and adventure novel. Review: This is a very good novel of romance and human discovery complete with > action and adventure! From the time the characters set off to change the world, the author had me hooked. I couldn't wait to find out want was going to happen next. As with so many of us, Katie (the main character) is a little unsure of who she is and what her purpose is. She is carrying on the work of her late mother but it is not as satisfying as it should be. By setting off on a great adventure to the Congo, she is able to learn who she is and to fulfill her destiny. She renews old friendships (with Sagan) and makes new ones (BJ) during her travels. These relationships help bring her life into focus and she is able to use them when the world around her begins to fall apart. As with so many of us, Katie finds her true self in the most trying of times. It is the same for BJ as circumstances help focus his energies on the course his life must take. The action sequences were well written. I could feel the tension as gunfire rang out and Katie, Sagan and BJ battled to reach their destination, the American Embassy. I could almost hear the rockets explode along their journey and feel and smell the smoke as they dodged through alleyways and streets attempting to reach safety. P.G. Redstone has done a wonderful job of creating characters you get to know and relate to. Their insecurities, their hopes and dreams are there for us to share. We struggle with them as they learn about the world we live in, but most importantly, they learn about themselves. All three are changed in a way they could not have foreseen. This is a good read and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys romance, action or adventure stories.
