Rating: Summary: Avid Romance Fan Review: I agree with the comments of the reader from Boston. I only gave this book a one-star rating because there was no option for no star. This book was so boring I finally threw it down in digust, unable to finish it. That is rare for me as I feel compelled to finish what I begin. The characters are one-dimensional; the dialog is trite. The writing is simplistic, to say the least. There was nothing to hold my interest. It almost seems that the author created this as an outline, and then forgot to fill in the details with character development, an interesting story line, etc. This is the first book I have read by this author, and suspect it will be the last.
Rating: Summary: I bought this because of other reviews Review: I bought this book because the other reviews were wonderful, and I was so disappointed. I don't understand how people thought this book was romantic. They meet and marry within 1 day, after having no more than 15 words with each other. Then in the first 50 pages, they lie to each other, one is accused of murder, and then they run away together to avoid the situation. The hero seems more like a boy than a man, while the heroine is par to say the least. Also, the dialogue between the characters is boring. The only good dialogue is when the heroine stands up for herself to another woman. I've read many many romance novels, and this one did not deserve a 5 star rating in my book.
Rating: Summary: This one is on my keeper shelf Review: I was browsing to see if there were any new releases from this author and was surprised to see two disappointed readers in the reviews. This is a favorite of mine and when I don't know what to read next I take it out again. The best things about this romance are the incredibly clever dialogue, the wacky secondary characters and the realistic animal characters who actually play a part in the story. The whole tone of the novel is heightened comedic sexual tension, but with an undercurrent of desire. It depends on what your taste runs to. Some people thought Jo Beverley's HAZZARD had unconventional lead characters, but that's what keeps it on my shelf. Lots of verbal sparring as the characters try to figure each other out in both of those. Just wanted to add my response to a romance that includes a rather memorable carriage ride as well!
Rating: Summary: More than just a romance Review: I'm fairly new to the romance genre, having recently gotten hooked on the books of Nora Roberts, so I've just begun to explore what's available, dabbling with various authors and so forth. This book (which a friend recommended) blew me away -- it's just so much fun! The characters are well-rounded and appealing, and the action is non-stop... it's got intrigue, adventure, humour, and (of course) true love. I read it in one sitting -- then I read it again! --Eagerly awaiting Ms. McMaster's next novel.
Rating: Summary: The Marriage Bargain Review: The Marriage Bargain is the most entertaining romance I've read in ages! It has everything - from ballroom dancing in Regency London to exploring caves on a tropical paradise. Top it off with an adventure aboard a pirate ship and you'll be flipping pages faster than you can read! It's a fun, swashbuckling tale with a hero to die for. Imagine Lord Beckett Thornby, devastatingly handsome aristocrat, clashing swords with pirates, climbing the rigging of their sailing ship to escape their dastardly ways. The dialogue is fresh and witty and full of clever surprises. Michelle McMaster's comedic talent is astounding. This is an author to watch! - Julianne MacLean

Rating: Summary: The parrot was my favorite part Review: This book was an easy and enjoyable read. I read it all in one weekend. The storey line had a good pace to it and I loved the parrot. Ms. McMasters must be an animal lover.
