Summary: Autumn Burns and Sean Sizzles!
Review: In FIRST COMES LOVE, we are introduced to Tess Monahan, a lovely girl with a plethora of sexy brothers. Brother Sean roars into our consciousness in MONAHAN'S GAMBLE! (And boy, are we looking forward to meeting Finn, Rory and Cullen!) Autumn Pulaski, a relatively new resident of Marigold, Indiana, and already considered a bit of a free spirit (make that oddball), is a woman with a mysterious dating ritual: she will only date a man for four weeks. Sean Monahan, after bragging to his brothers and cronies that he is just the man to break Autumn's hard and fast dating rule, is challenged to prove himself by dating Autumn for two months. Sean doesn't want to marry the woman, for God's sake; even if she is quite lovely, she's an eccentric piece of work after all. He only wants to date Autumn long enough to win the dare. And if he enjoys her womanly company in the meantime, all the better! But Sean doesn't bank on the immediate and all-consuming chemistry that sparks and then roars into life the moment he comes within speaking distance of Autumn.

This is the key to the success of Elizabeth Bevarly's romance novels: instantaneous and consistent sexual tension between the heroes and heroines in her books, from their first encounters to the happily-ever-afters. Bevarly's books offer a wonderful balance of viewpoint. Not only is the reader treated to fully-developed female perspectives, the perspectives of the heroes are also finely-drawn and entertaining in the extreme. While reading MONAHAN'S GAMBLE, I found myself looking forward to the next scene even as I enjoyed the one I was reading. I knew that after having my blood pressure raised by Autumn's point-of-view regarding her inexplicable passion for Sean, I would be further engaged by descriptions of what Sean thinks and feels for the entrancing Autumn!

Bevarly's skill with alternating viewpoints works to keep the tension high and the narrative intriguing. There are no flat moments in MONAHAN'S GAMBLE. It delivers what readers want most when they purchase a category romance: page-turning romance and sensuality from cover to cover.
