Summary: The most inventive Harlequin I have ever read.
Review: When I read a Harlequin it is usually because I need to take a break from my brain; I expect simple heroines with complicated situations or complicated heroines in simple situations. It is pretty reliable...and worth the less expensive cover price. Rachel, the heroine in Send Me No flowers, is very complicated and quite witty woman in a very delicate and complicated situation. She lives in Love, Michigan; the Valentines Day capital of the world, the problem is she is a woman who has every reason to give up on Love and "love." Every year the town goes crazy for the month of February, which is a problem for Rachel because she is the town physiatrist and most of her clients have serious hang-ups about being alone in the love capital of the world. So she boycotts Valentines Day, which angers the town mayor, Drew, enough to try and "change the nut's mind," by dating her. This is a very funny book that is more inventive in 200 pages than most 500-page books. It is worth the little extra surcharge if you can get a copy of this book. Definitely the most Un-Harlequin, Harlequin book I have ever read...in a good way.
