Rating: Summary: A Romance to remember! Review: Forest Ranger Penny Hart is trying to further her career when Mack Holsey entangled himself in her life. As hard as she fought against them being a couple he fought just as hard to bring them together. The romance, humor and excitement of the mystery kept me reading to the end. I bought this because a reviewer had said there were steamy sex scenes. The sex scenes were wonderfully romantic! I found them to be gentle, sweet and yes passionate. When I read the last page I was sad because I wanted it to go on. This is a romance novel you can become totally enthralled in.
Rating: Summary: A Romance to remember! Review: Heroine: Formerly heavy 25-year-old forest ranger Penny Hart, desperate to put her father's death behind her, is making some major changes in her life. She's lost 100 pounds, applied for a job transfer, and is moving out on her own for the first time. But just as the young woman thinks she's put together a solid plan for a new lease on life, her mother throws her a curveball. Penny's dreams of peaceful solitude fade when she discovers that her late father's partner, the sexy and guilt-ridden FBI agent Mack Holsey, has ensconced himself in the Hart family retreat: the very place where she intended to make her fresh start! Penny wants the cabin to herself and starts scheming of ways to get rid of her unasked-for roommate. But a mysterious hit-and-run accident coupled with unanswered questions about the circumstances surrounding her father's death keep the handsome agent firmly entrenched in her home and her life. She's brave enough to throw herself headlong into fighting forest fires, but can Penny survive the dangers of falling in love? What worked for me: This story had an interesting premise, a hunky hero with a decent personality, and a heroine with a wild job. I liked the fact that even though Penny has lost a lot of weight, she doesn't dwell overmuch on the size of her body. (Except for those times when she feels she is on uncertain ground with the man in her life, but what woman hasn't done that?) What didn't work for me: The flow of the writing became somewhat stilted as the story progressed, and I felt that the book was longer than it really needed to be. With some judicious whittling down it could have been a tighter, faster-paced read. (Note: the edition I reviewed was not the version which you'll find on store bookshelves, so some of these issues may have been addressed in the final editing session.) Overall: The plot definitely had some great potential. Fans of mystery/suspense or multicultural novels may want to have a look at this one, but beware that it does have some rather steamy sex scenes. If you liked "Shadows in the Moonlight" you might also enjoy "Looking for Laura".

Rating: Summary: Romantic, Exciting, Fun Review: Penny and Mack are an exciting couple. Not only are they sexy, they are funny! I loved the book. The characters seem so real. I have read Ms.Sumerix's From The Ashes and was pleased to see she had picked up the hero and heroine from that book and used them as secondary characters in this one. Now I know what happned to Paige and Linc too! I can't wait to see what she writes next.

Rating: Summary: Hot and Steamy Romance Combined with Mystery Review: Shadows In The Moonlight is not your average romance novel. Combined with mystery, crime, and lust, this novel is definitely a winner. Penny Hart is still grieving over the loss of her father Cliff who died in a recent tragic accident. Cliff was an FBI agent for many years. Penny, who is a Forest Ranger, has accepted a position close to home. There is only one thing that Penny needs to do and that is to tell her mother she will be moving out. She is unsure of how this news will affect her mother. Penny plans to move into the family cabin, but is shocked to learn from her mother that she has rented the cabin out for one year to her fathers partner. Penny decides to move into the cabin anyway. Mack Holsey, FBI agent and former partner of Cliff is totally surprised when Penny moves into the cabin. Penny with her independent nature, and Mack with his good looks and take-charge attitude are an unlikely couple. Penny is determined to find a way to get Mack to move. One thing is for sure; neither of them can deny their attraction to each other. One night while driving from dinner, Penny and Mack witness a hit and run accident. A beautiful young woman is left to die. She pleads to them Please dont let them take my baby. This is where the mystery begins and the story heats up. Jean Sumerix has written a novel that will keep you glued to your seat. Her characters are fully developed but it is the romance and mystery combination that makes this book a good read. Her writing is clear but the plot is not predictable. I enjoyed reading this fast paced novel and plan to read other works by this author. Excellent job. Reviewed by Dorothy Cooperwood

Rating: Summary: Temptation, Desire, Intrigue Review: Temptation, desire and intrigue. Shadows in the Moonlight has it all plus more. This is a good read! When forest ranger Penny Hart decides that she needs to make a second change in her life she takes a job transfer, the first change was 100 pound weight loss. She never imagines that the move will change her life forever. Penny has decided that she will live in her parents unused cabin but her mother tells her that it has been rented out for a year to Mack Holsey the partner of her deceased FBI husband. Penny is dissapointed but does not let this news change her plans. Instead she has an additional one, to get rid of the boarder. What her mother has not told her is that Mack's main reason for staying in the cabin is to find out what really happened to Penny's dad who had an accident while staying there. Penny's mom has never believed the "fatal acccident" story and she wants FBI agent Mack Holsey to find out exactly how and why her husband died. Now that Penny knows who the boarder is, she is even more determined to get rid of him, but she does not count on her physical and emotional reaction to daddy's old partner. She is even more surprised at Mack's response to her. And, she is definately not sure how to handle the sensuous thoughts that continually creep into her head about this handsome intruder who appears to be very comfortable in her space.Penny and Mack both realize that they must move cautiously and go slow. Mack because this is his mentor's daughter and Penny because her main interest right now is to advance her career. But when they come upon a pregnant young girl who lays dying in road everything changes. They become united as they try to make good a promise they made to the girl that they would not let her child be taken away and placed for adoption by THEM. Their act of kindness leads them into a 'home for girls' that is more than it appears to be and a friendly social worker who has an ulterior motive for helping Penny and Mack. The arrival of Mack's beautiful partner Cavine sends Penny's self esteem reeling back to when she was 100 pounds heavier and thought little of herself. She has no idea that Cavine is actually working with Mack to find out who killed Penny's father. Penny only sees Cavine as a rival for Mack's affection. The ending of this novel will have you wanting to know what more misfortune and disaster can happen next to Penny and Mack before they are safe again, but not wanting the story to end. I would love to read more about Penny and Mack.Vannie(~.~)
