Rating: Summary: Disturbing. Review: Anita Mills' character development is fabulous, and her use of historical enhancement is fascinating. Elinor Ashton's debt-ridden father sold the fifteen-year-old to the elderly, ambitious Baron Arthur Kingsley. The nouveau riche Lord Kingsley purchased "a possession", a display piece to impress the London upper class. Applying rigid discipline, Kingsley turns Elinor, into the "Toast of London.". A brilliant achievement, but nineteen-year-old Elinor feels unloved, undesired, and very unhappy. With his young, beautiful wife, Baron Kingsley is the envy of every London nobleman and he basks in the worship. Now the author exposes the novel's theme -- the open courtship of Kingsley wife! London's notorious rake, Viscount Bellamy Townsend is feverish in his pursuit of Elinor Kingsley. Publicly, in the Almack's ballroom, even the notorious Beau Brummel refers to Elinor as the Earl of Longford's special "Venus". Indeed Kingsley's own grandson, Charles, is captivated and mesmerized with our heroine. Attention, attention, our heroine is married -- even if her husband is a jerk -- Elinor is still married - yet she engages in an open, blatant affair. The magic, in romance reading, is the mystic world a reader enters. Our heroines are usually innocent, pure in thought, and blameless -- not portrayed as adulteress women. This chosen path the author penned was troublesome. The book is a page turner, and with a different direction it could have been remarkable, but unfortunately I didn't like the stumble into infidelity. Grace Atkinson, Ontario - Canada.

Rating: Summary: A romantic love story Review: From the beginning, Elinor married an old man Arthur, she was there for him till the end. But her desire for Luce was so romantic I loved that romance. If you love romance in an exciting way this book is it. Anita Mills is a very good writer. Her writing goes back to the 1800's. Falling Stars is the next book to read. Two thumbs up!!!!
Rating: Summary: Pretty good Review: This book started off great. Poor Elinor gets forced into marriage by her jerk father just so that he can pay his gambling debts. It is presumed her aged husband will croak soon, but unfortunately, he lives for years and years. You feel sooo bad for this girl. She has to endure so much nonsense from her disgusting husband for the trophe he wants her to be. So many guys in the book fall for her. The only flaw in the book is that it took sooooooo long for the main hero and heroine to get together. It didn't exactly bore you - there was lots going on in virtually every chapter - but just when you thought your patience is about to be rewarded, something else happens. Pretty good overall, though.

Rating: Summary: Wonderful novel! Review: This book was absolutely incredible! Anita Mills entertains you with believable characters who capure your heart. The book takes you in at the very beginning and holds until the very end. The way Anita Mills keeps the hero and heroin apart until the very end is great! She keeps you in suspense then gives you what you've been waiting for since page one. But keep that box of tissue handy if you get into the book as much as I did you are definately going to need it!
Rating: Summary: A Very Memorable Story Review: This is a wonderful story. If you enjoy a historical romance that actually includes history, you will enjoy this book! The best thing about it, though, are the distinctive characters. Each character is unique and believable. I have been reading romance novels for twenty years, and I have never read another author who can compare to Anita Mills in character development! You will cry when Elinor cries, and your heart will break for Charlie.

Rating: Summary: Favorite Review: This is one of my all time favorite romance novels, close behind Whitney My Love by Judith McNaught. I read this book twice and still think of the story. Wonderful!!
