Rating: Summary: A Cajun Dream has it all! Review: A Cajun Dream is a rich and complex love story about a man and a woman who appear doomed to remain divided by their cultural differences. Each a product of their individual environments, Amanda and Rene must struggle to overcome their own prejudices, as well as the interference of others - some well-meaning, and some not.Cherie Claire has skillfully written a wonderfully suspenseful plot with great twists. Her writing is so incredibly vivid, I felt as though I actually lived through this story, and this period in time, with Amanda, Rene and their families. I shared their anguish and their joy. Rich in detail, Claire's delightful characters spring to life and capture your heart. This is a book destined to be cherished and re-read.
Rating: Summary: A delightful read. Cherie Claire is a wonderful new voice. Review: A handsome acadian racetrack owner and an American Judge's beautiful, overprotected daughter deal with cultural & family differences and the scandal that forces their midnight marriage. Cherie Claire keeps us guessing. We know Amanda Rose and Rene Comeaux belong together, and we can't wait to find out how it can possibly happen with all they have to overcome. A CAJUN DREAM is one of those books we are delighted to know awaits us after a long workday. A treat for any reader.
Rating: Summary: What a Great, Hot Romance! Review: Amanda's over-protective father frightens away every potential suitor, and Amanda fears spinsterhood. Ashamed that she is 21 years old and never been kissed, she makes arrangements in secret to go to a ball with someone she has heard is a good kisser. This scoundrel, on the other hand, plans to abduct her and force her to marry him, believing her wealthy father will pay him to avoid scandal. Fortunately, she is rescued by a handsome young man who is secretly in love with her but knows that he is beneath her because of his Acadien (French Canadian) heritage. Of course, his "rescue" must also result in compromise, so Amanda and René are married. Neither knows the true feelings of the other, so they must experience the usual agony of doubt before they are able to confess their love. But this story is much more than a charming romance, and, as posted by a previous reader, a portrayal of Louisiana history (which is very interesting, by the way). It is also a story of how Americans fought to overcome prejudices between people of different races and cultures in order to work together to make their country successful. America's diversity makes it unique among all other countries in the world, and, rather than take it for granted, we must strive to ensure that America remains a haven for people of all nations and cultures. I heartily recommend this book and will certainly look for more from this author.

Rating: Summary: A Wonderfully Unexpected Find! Review: I didn't recognize the author but picked this one up anyway. . . and I'm glad that I did! The culture clash between the the Acadians and the pre-Civil War Southern society made a nice twist for the rich girl/guy from the wrong side of the street plot device. The hero is ambitious but with a good heart. The heroine begins as naive but is always treated as an intelligent and caring person. This isn't a story where the hero and heroine are constantly at each others throats (though they are often at cross purposes.) It is clear early on that they care deeply for each other and--suprisingly for some romances--they also manage to treat one another as though they care. Though they have their share of problems (not the least of which is family and culture) their hearts are always in the right place and with each other. When the book was over, I still had a smile on my face. The characters and their circumstances are nicely developed and fleshed out. Very enjoyable.
Rating: Summary: Chere Claire does her homework - historically accurate Review: I look forward to reading this book because I know Chere Claire has deep roots in South Louisiana that carry over in her depth of writing. Her historical research is exact, so her book offers accurate history intertwined with a page-turning story.
Rating: Summary: A terrific book by a great new talent! Review: I loved Cherie Claire's debut novel, A CAJUN DREAM! What a fascinating, richly detailed story of friendship, love, hate, and cross-cultural understanding. It's clear that the author knows her Cajun culture, but she skillfully never loses sight of the romantic element of Amanda Rose and Rene Comeaux's story. A CAJUN DREAM is a wonderfully written, very unique book. I can't wait to read Ms. Claire's next novel!
Rating: Summary: What a Great, Hot Romance! Review: I loved this book. A Cajun Dream is one of those books that transports you into a different place. Cherie Claire really makes you feel and see what it was like in Louisiana back when. There are all these tiny details -- but not getting in the way of the plot. And Rene is a dream.
Rating: Summary: Hi Readers! Review: Please join me in celebrating the 300th anniversary of Louisiana with my Cajun historical romance "A Cajun Dream." Born and raised in the Bayou State, I have always loved hearing the stories behind our unique culture, traditions and festivities. So, in honor of my state's tricentennial, I share my culture with you. "A Cajun Dream" examines how the French and Americans did not (and sometimes did) get along in post-statehood Louisiana. The story revolves around Amanda Rose Richardson, the daughter of an American judge, who has had to live under the shadow of her Creole French mother's scandal. She is loved in secret by Cajun Rene Comeaux, who rescues Amanda from her own scandal and crosses her into the French world she has long been denied. I hope you enjoy reading my tale as much as I have had writing it.
Rating: Summary: The past revisited Review: This is a wonderful story of love overcoming history, prejudice, well-meaning interference, and suspicion. Both protagonists grow and mature onto people whose love is stronger than the forces arrayed against them. This book is a keeper.
