Summary: Totally enjoyed this book
Review: First off I must say that although submitted as a "lesbian romance" I, (a gay male), totally enjoyed this book. Kelly writes with personal style and inviting ambiance. I felt totally welcome in Melissa (Mel) Hadley's world. Zarembski has a strong ability to make her characters real and believable. Mel is no exception nor the lost Sarah or Mel's family of friends. I read this book while my lover of twenty-four years was literally going through heart surgery. So I was a little nervous to say the least. Considering that I knew a portion of the subject in "Visions Of Sarah" was the loss of a lover just made me more anxious. However, Kelly's style and characters quickly enwrapped and welcomed me. I found some relief in Mel's rationalizing over the loss of Sarah. And indeed amusement at her friend's attempts to cheer.

Make no mistake this is not a book of morn, but rather Mel's road back from that dark place of loss. Peppered with memories and loving helpful friends the story is an easy and touching read. From the tender and trembling first kiss to the more relaxed Mel later in the book. This character becomes a friend. Yes this is a lesbian romance however Zarembski transcends gender with her universal understanding of relationships, and makes this topical for all. A must read!

Summary: Rough, but good first effort
Review: I appreciated the care the author took with the tough subject matter of grieving for a life partner. The writing is heartfelt and moving at times -- this is a two hanky book.

It's a little long. Some scenes are "more of the same" and don't move the plot forward in any way. A good editor would have helped, and I hope Zarembski gets some good hands on editing for future works. If she did they would probably turn out really well.

People who liked Visions of Sarah shouldn't miss Rebecca Montague's "A Wild Sea" and Karin Kallmaker's "Watermark," both of which deal with the aftermath of the death of a life partner.

Summary: Here is a woman who's got it together, Mel
Review: I bought it because of the reviews. I was looking forward to a nice romance, like Curious Wine or some of Melissa Good's books. Well, I guess I was wrong. Not my cup of tea. It is more like a soap opera. If you like complications and a lot of confusion, this is for you.

The narrative is not as great. It seems too hurry, like reporting a speech. In any case, it is not my cup of tea. Read on if you want to see what I saw.

SPOILERS*************

Mel does go through a lot of tragedy... a bit too much perhaps. Her partner/lover dies, but while the partner was sick, Mel was falling in love with her business Associate (Win). So I find it hard to believe she suffered as much for that lost when she ['kinda'] loved another. Maybe she is confused.

Eventually she gets a new GF, Lili, and Win tells her she loves her. Well, because of circumstances, Mel breaks up with her GF, but doesn't go to Win... She goes away to think, to come back to Win with a clear head because she 'is confused'. While she is away, she falls in love. This time is he real deal, Ivy. Eventually she tells Win about Ivy. She spends an incredible amount of time with Win because of something that happened to her and really needs a friend. All the while, Ivy is very understanding.
One day, during a re-opening, Mel wonders if she would be happy with Lili, but decides she loves Ivy (do I see more confusion here?). All the while visiting her late GF's grave and expressing how much she loves her and will never love anyone like her. She even MAKES love to her - a ghost, yes -, how faithful to Ivy.

Then, Win has an accident, and while in a comma, Mel tells her that sometimes she wonders if she made the right decision by Win (do I see more confusion, I thought Ivy was her real love)...
Because of some guilt, she just drops everything and leaves. She runs into Lili and together, they go to Mexico for a while... Very faithful... and she is happy with Lili. Ivy comes looking for her, very forgiving and all, the same day, they go to bed together... and Mel expresses how much she missed Ivy - Yeah right -...

Ah, one other thing... they are always laughing at the stupidest things. Somehow, that ticked me off. But that is just I.
-------------
The second Book (Embers in the Sky), although not a sequel, the author revisits Ivi and Mel, and Mel suffers yet, another tragedy when Ivi dies. And what does she do? jums into bed with Lili again, although now, that has consequences for Lili, who's GF is not as forgiving as Ivi was.

Summary: Excellent
Review: I love this book. I couldn't put it down, I laughed and I cried. I haven't read a good book in a long time. I totally recommend it.

Summary: Shocked at other reviews
Review: I purchased this book because of all of the positive reviews. The poor sentence structure and grammatical errors reminds me of a 5th grader's first attempt at telling a story. The characters were poorly developed and the different situations unbelievable. There are so many other excellent others available (e.g. Melissa Good, Radclyffe, McNab, Carr, Maiman, Cooper, Forest, Rulle, Schmidt to name a few) that one should not waste ones money on such an immature, poorly written book.

Summary: A legitimate romance
Review: I was really impressed with this book. I purchased it because I kept seeing it every where. Have to say, it was worth it. It was rough, but I could really see the potential of this author. The story was great and she had me really caring for her main character Mel. I absolutely love romances and this is one of the better ones that I've read.

Summary: It was a help.
Review: Someone recommended this book to me since I too lost a long time love and it help fill in a void I was missing. Thank you even if it is choppy in place it was worth the read through.

Summary: It might help
Review: The pain i could also feel, the story was to close to home for me but I hope it can help someone else.

Summary: A Very Emotional Read
Review: This author made me care deeply for her protagonist Mel. The characters come to life on the page and subsequently make you feel their pain and sorrow, as well as their deep friendships and intense lust. The storyline is impactive and only makes you want for more. The best thing this author could do would be to write a second novel.
