Summary: Maggie's Mistake
Review: Although I enjoyed this book and I liked Maggie and her personality the one thing I did not like was that this book was a lot like Carolyn Brown's other book Emma's Folly. Emma and Maggie both had to enter in a marriage that was loveless. Maggie was forced to marry Everett because they were in a barn together and Emma because she was running away from her father.
I enjoy books that have to do with arranged marriages or forced to get married but these two books pretty much had the same plot.

Review: Maggie Listen is one of the most delightful heroines you'll ever meet. She's completely natural and loves to dance.Everett Dulanis is wrong for her. He's in love with another woman, cannot appreciate Maggie--and, worst, has no desire to dance. But Carolyn Brown brings them together in this wonderfully written and thoroughly enjoyable novel. Both Maggie and Everett change and grow and finally fall in love. Will they find out before it's too late? Well, this is a romance so of course they do, but not before a lot of fun takes place.

Review: Maggie's mistake was in marrying the town's wealthy Southern doctor. Not that it was her idea or her fault. Her pa just read the situation wrong was all. Doc fit her criteria for a husband about as well as a silk bonnet fit a prize sow. Maggie didn't want all that much from life, just a man who could dance -oh, how she loved to dance! - and one who could make her laugh. Uppity Doc Dulanis can't do a reel to save his life, and laugh? Does the man even know how? Follow this mismatched pair as they try to untangle the skein of misunderstandings, lies, and silent pride. The story is charming and one you can share with your twelve year old daughter or your ninety-two year old grandmother. Maggie's Mistake is the third in Carolyn Brown's series of historical romances set in Oklahoma, Indian Territory, following the land rush. In each of these stories, Ms. Brown builds the town of Dodsworth family by family, story by story in a way that makes it come alive for her readers. Some came with money, others arrived with just the shirt on their back and a willingness to work - much as it really happened. Follow the historical trail, with Emma's Folly, Violet's Wish, and Maggie's Mistake. There are at least two more books to come in this series.

Summary: Maggie's Mistake
Review: Reading a book by Carolyn Brown is like being touched by a heavenly angel, she is great! Never a disappointment with any of Carolyn Brown's books. Emmas's Folly was great. Violet's Wish wonderful, but Maggie's Mistake will always be a touching remarkable love story between two hearts that were meant to be together from day one. Ms. Brown's books get better and better with every word that she puts on paper. This one I have read three times. I buy her books because I know there will never be a disappointment in any of her writings.
At first the two characters are a bit stubborn in confessing their love for one another but in time their hearts open up allowing them to see they were meant for each other. A drawing together yet pulling away by two souls searching but never quite reaching out to grab what is right in front of their eyes. A love that others can so openly see when they are together. I loved this story. If two people were ever meant to be in love, Everett and Maggie were. And for Ms. Brown to introduce James and Elenor and their story - Kudos! Great thinking! She's a great writer! To see through Maggie's eyes all the new discoveries and adventures was enough to not only cause Everett's heart to elate but mine as well. I was swept away by every bit of their journey. The story was tender, touching and made your heart soar. The whole book was superb! I loved the parts of banter with Carolina and Maggie throughout the story. I'd say Anna Marie and Carolina should spend a month locked away in a small dug out for a month. That might be a help for them. The heart touching words when Maggie spoke to Everett on the way to Ruby's not to mention afterwards over Everett's amazement for Maggie that rolled in his mind. The chat over the sister and James when she and Everett were at Violet's home. Ms. Brown has once again created a remarkable masterpiece. I am so glad that it ended the way it did because I thought I might have to go find the two and club them both if their hearts hadn't opened up. Twelve stars and two thumbs way up for Maggie's Mistake! The cover illustration by Jeffrey J. Faville was very good.

Their lives turns upside down from there. He begins to notice the wonderful qualities in Maggie but his head is still stuck on his plan of marrying a southern belle who seems perfect at the time (but as you read and see Caroline)you will see what he missed in his plan. She can't see her own worth and worthiness to be loved by anyone (It just goes to show what you say to someone can leave a lasting impact). They slowly develop a relationship unawares and fall in love. Family and friends begin to become manipulative to help them to realize how in love they are with one another. To find out how it ends I suggest you take the time for an enjoyable read.
